The late home of the " THUNDER XXXX " aircraft, which saw action in
WWll, Korea, and Viet Nam. Now, no longer in operation. It's field
is situated on the south shore of Long Island in the town of Farm -
ingdale, just north of Amityville (friendly village) known for the
infamous haunted house. Republics last successful aircraft, used in
Viet Nam was the F105 Thunder Jet. The site was so important to
National Defense, at one time, that a NIKE site was place south east
of the airfield.

Now a private and commuter airstrip the Republic Aircraft Corp supplied
work for many skilled laborers during the '50's.
