Abacus Knoll Country Club by Joe Ferraro Finally, here it is , my first release for JNSE. Since I first got into designing right before SE came out, and my only JNUG release was met with a lot of CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, I hope you find it worth the D/L. I think you will. Although the course is an original design, I must confess, a few of the holes were influenced by a couple of courses I fly over everyday in Colorado Springs. I basically took the Sherwood land plot, got rid of the water and reformed a lake at the south end of the plot, threw in a creek or two, and then re-elevated the agua. That was all the elevation work performed on the plot, so you may see the river beds winding thru the course even though they are land-filled now. I chose this method for a specific reason, that being the Revery article on *P around the time I started this course; I wanted the land plot to look realistic instead of totally revamped (not a slam on anyone else, just making Jim happy [g]). Along the same line, the holes weren't changed much, (except for a few) besides the greens and tees. As far as the course goes, it can be summed up in a word, LONG. This includes a 461 yd par 4, and four par 3s, the shortest being 170 yds from the back tees. The bunkers are almost solely pot style, relativly deep grass bunkers with sand at the bottom. The greens weren't meant to be extremely difficult, however, some pins offer a tough challange. All the tees are elevated, and the emphasis is usually placed on an accurate drive. Although the course is long, not all holes require a 275+ yd drive. If you can play the 2-6 irons well you should clean up on this layout. You see I am a golfer not an artist, and would not have come close on this course without the objects of the following: The red flowers, two rocks, bench set, small light bush, Oak tree, two pines, & a larger bush I'll call a Scrub Oak from Mark Willet via Alhambra. A rock off of Streamwood Hills by Kerry Liebowitz. The yellow flowers from Mark via Scorpion. The red and white flowers (recolored from pink), & a bush (recolored from white) are from Augus** Nation**; and the Red Maple, Green Maple, and thin Pine are from Merion, both designed by Lee Ritze. Of course the background was donated by Gene Rodriguiz III, and the palet was taken from Alhambra, both were modified by yours truely. (thanks John Kunyik for Paledit.exe) To anyone I have over looked, I apologize, but these are the courses I pulled from. If I misspelled your name, again, sorry. And if I pissed you off for recoloring one of your donations, I again apologize, but you have to let me feel like I did something. (Signed) Joe Ferraro Qtrs 4517C USAFA, CO 80840 *P PXSF02A
