Course: Anza Borrego GC Designer: John Sandoval for JNSE Date: 11/15/92 This is my third solo release. In my previous two, I have tried to capture a certain setting. This philosophy continues with Anza Borrego. This course is loosely based on a trip with my wife to the desert Southwest. We traveled from San Diego and went through Arizona and New Mexico, with a short stop in Mesa Verde, Colorado. While on that trip, I was very taken with the scenery. I don't think you can see anything else quite like it in the world. And so, I wanted to create a desert design. The name for the course comes from the Anza Borrego desert, which is in the Southeastern corner of California. The desert is a bit different from the "typical" Southwestern desert, and the course reflects this. As with all of my courses, this one isn't too taxing on your golf score. One can have a leisurely round of golf and just take in the sights. There are a some holes, though, that require serious thought. And with all of that sand out there, you will need to be accurate. I would like to thank Kerry Leibowitz for taking a look and the course and giving me his opinions. The background took some time and his comments were valuable. As for the objects, well, the cacti are from the JNUG clip-art package, but they have been recolored. Other objects were taken from Mark Willett's Scorpion course. And the rest are original, for better or worse. If you enjoy this course, you may want to check out my previous designs. My first course was La Jolla GC, a seaside course set in San Diego. After that, was Cuyamaca GC, a mountain course. I have also collaborated with Kerry Leibowitz on Doral CC, and we will be working again in the future. Next up for me as solo projects are the two Torrey Pines courses. Thanks and I hope you enjoy the course. John Sandoval 9015 Thamesmeade Rd #B Laurel, MD 20723 *P ID: FKFC42B
