SOME NOTES ON THE BAGHDAD COUNTRY CLUB Course Name: Baghdad Country Club Location: Baghdad, Iraq Length/Par: 3817-3956-7773 / 36-37-73 Designer: Fictional Difficulty: Moderate to difficult Source: My warped imagination JNUG Design: Jay Johnson (aka "Jaybird") Acknowledgement: To Scott Chesney for the "loan" of many of the trees from his Desert Highlands course. If you're going to steal an idea, steal one that works. First of all, this is a long course containing five(5) par 5s. Secondly (the good news), you can whale away on your shots to your heart's content since you can't receive any penalty strokes: there's no water and no out- of-bounds. Now for some bad news: there is plenty of sand. For those of you playing in the Khomeni Cup Match, we have some announcements: 1) Do not wander north off the course. The government has chosen to locate a mobile SAM site in that direction "to protect our honored guests and the American players from possible air attacks.". 2) President Hussein has generously allowed students from one of the local universities (named after the former King of Egypt, King Farouk) time off to attend the matches and act as a gallery. Ignore them. 3) Ahab of Ahab's Camelot has generously donated a number of energy-efficient golf carts for use by the honored competitors and the Americans too. Please avoid hitting the carts with errant tee shots: it gives them an attitude. A yardage card for the course is given below. Enjoy. I do ask that you be specific - telling me that a hole (or even an entire course) sucks doesn't help much unless you specify how it sucks. But hey, you've got the JNUG Designer, so feel free to make the changes you feel are needed. I also welcome suggestions as to courses that you want to see done and this applies to types of trees that will be appearing in future TREESn files.
