COUNTRY CLUB AT THE BILTMORE Course Name : Country Club at the Biltmore JNSE Design : Roger Johnson Location : The Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina near Asheville. ABOUT THE BILTMORE ESTATE The Biltmore House and Gardens located near Asheville, N.C. is a popular vacation attraction by the many tourists that tour the North Carolina mountains each year. The elegant estate was the home of billionare George Vanderbilt during the late 1800's and early 1900's. The mansion, completed in 1895, took five years to build. The Estate once included 145,000 acres and presently covers 12,000 acres, 35 of which are formal gardens. The mansion, which is the largest private dwelling ever built in the New World contains 250 rooms. ABOUT THE COURSE This fantasy course was inspired by Lee Ritze's rendition of Augusta National for JNSE. Most of the objects and the background are from Lee's course. C.C. at the Biltmore plays similarly to Augusta with its wide rolling fairways and tough undulating greens. Not unlike Augusta National, length is also a major aspect of the course. Although the course plays to a length of 7340 yards, I feel with the wider fairways and large greens that it is a fair test of golf. MORE ABOUT THE COURSE This course is a conversion of a JNUG course I designed. The JNUG version was never released mainly for the reason that JNSE hit the stores a few days after it was completed. Like most, I left JNUG in the dust when the new simulation arrived. I feel this was my best design for JNUG, so I was anxious to see how it converted. Some of the slopes in the fairway had to be smoothed and with the greater variety in colors in the palette I couldn't let the background go unchanged. Also the scoreboard was drawn from a picture I found in the Masters Tournament program. CREDITS I would like to thank Lee Ritze for the use of objects from Augusta National. Also for the background, that I modified to include the Biltmore Mansion. Thanks Lee. I hope all who play C.C. at the Biltmore will find it an enjoyable and challenging round of golf. Any and all comments are welcome. Roger Johnson Prodigy SNHJ01A
