COURSE: Lackland AFB Golf Club LOCATION: San Antonio, Texas DESIGN: Designed in EGA for JNUG by Ted Maiden COMMENTS: While stationed at Kelly AFB (just next door to Lackland and a future JNUG course) I played this course many times with my two sons. The holes were laid out on the side of a mesa-like cut in the terrain. An example of this is shown in the elevation change between the clubhouse area and the rest of the course. Superbly maintained, it is open to military members and a limited number of their guests. The creeks have been used to the fullest during the design and are just enough intimidation to add shaking hands to the timid and the faint of heart. The fairways are fairly wide like some public courses, but that does not reduce the importance of keeping the ball in play. Any trip into the trees will usually leave you with a tough recovery. Like Scott Chesney and Jaybird, I have put forth within the limits of my memory, a supreme effort to remain religiously true to the actual design of the real course. Having played golf for over 35 years, I have a very deep love and respect for its principles and spirit of sportsmanship and I have tried to apply those qualities in delivering this course to the JNUG users. My handle on the Accolade Bulletin Board is "Maker". I am also on Prodigy. (NPNW54A). I hang out in the JNUG section (Other Games) of the Computer Club bulletin board. I hope you enjoy Lackland AFB G.C. It's like being there. Ted Maiden
