OLYMPIC GOLF CLUB ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Design by Dan Raftery 1 May 1992 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Again, my thanks to G. Rodriguez III and C. Nillson for the use of their objects. I wish I could hook up with these guys and give them my personnal thanks. Objects, unfortunately, and backgrounds, are my weak suit, but maybe in a couple of weeks I can strike a deal with Phil McCloud of Illinois and rectify this problem, so I don't have to burden Mr.'s Rodriguez and Nillson all the time. Olympic is located in the plush foothills of San Francisco, California, and actually is laid out across these foothills. Most holes play to a fairway either sloping left or right, occasionally playing straight up or straight down. Without overdoing these drastic changes in elevation, and creating a course that is unplayable in JNSE, I toned down this course a bit, although there is no doubt in my mind, that in dry conditions it will play extremely difficult. Olympic, in reality plays to very tight, tree-lined fairways. Again I have made every effort to recreate this although some may think the trees aren't close enough, and others complain that the fairway trees are way to close. I am attempting to recreate an actual golf course, and to the critics I say, if you feel like complaining, let me see what you come up with! Olympic's holes play only to deep rough. There is no out of bounds, and THERE ARE NO WATER HOLES on Olympic. Again to change the course to my feelings would make it a fantasy course. Greens roll with the terrain and many greens will catch an approach and funnel it to the hole, while others may kick it away. That's golf! I hope you enjoy playing Olympic and set to normal conditions and a light wind, I shot 3 under par on this par 71 course. Not the best I've done, but not the worst either. Like I've said before, conditions will be very important in the individual results. Noticably, there ARE some drastic changes in elevation, and I have made every effort to make them visable, but will come into play only off a very bad tee shot or approach. Every concievable effort was made to contain a good tee shot and second shot on the fairway, and to keep a good approach or chip on the putting surface. You may find a flaw or two but few and far in between. One last word on JNSE design. Come on you guys that dwell on ribbon thin fairways. TPC at Sawgrass is one of the tightest tee shot courses in the world and plays to what we know as target golf. The fairways are still wide enough to hit! Get with the program!
