THE PINERY GOLF CLUB The Pinery Golf Club was created in September and October 1992. It's a 6900 yard, par 72 set in Southern Colorado near the Old West Town of Durango. It was cut out of an area that is adjacent to the San Juan National Forest. The course is located just off U S Route 550, between the Tammaron Resort and the Purgatory Ski Area. I've tried to recreate the look and feel of the courses that are "real" and in that area of the state. When I lived in Colorado, I and my golfing buddies would go to Tammaron at least once a year on a long weekend to play golf. Just imagine, you get up as the sun is rising over the San Juan Mountains, go have breakfast, and then make it to the first tee by 7 o'clock. There are still ice crystals around the sprinkler heads and the air sky is as clear and a bell. You know that by noon, on this July day, that the temperature will be in the upper 80's, but the sweater you have on now and the morning sun and the clear air and beautiful scenery make for a perfect setting for your round of golf. There's nothing quite like a clear mountain morning. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Pinery's holes lay out as follows: Hole # Par Yardage Hole # Par Yardage ------ --- ------- ------ --- ------- 1 4 394 10 4 376 2 4 386 11 5 552 3 5 520 12 3 234 4 3 192 13 4 424 5 4 490 14 4 357 6 4 293 15 4 448 7 4 376 16 3 122 8 3 210 17 4 365 9 5 592 18 5 589 OUT 36 3453 IN 36 3467 ========================================================================== Hope you enjoy the layout and any positive or nagative comments will be appreciated. Joe Blankenship ************************************************************************** Special thanks and acknowledgement to Scott Chesney for the base back ground and some of the objects. I modified the background in order to replicate the Southern Colorado area, But couldn't have accomplished it without Scott's original background from his Banff Springs course. ************************************************************************** If you like my work, and would like to download some of my other courses, I have some other designs on the Accolade, Double Eagle, and 19th Green BBS's. Those courses are: Spanish Hills Golf Course: Set in the foothills around Taos, New Mexico. Semi arid area with rocks, scrub brush and very little water. Boulder Canyon Golf Club : A desert course, set in Arizona, with lots of sand and rocks, cacti, and a few scorpions. Saddle Creek Golf Club : This course is set in North Georgia. It's somewhat tight, but is a "fair" play. There is a summer edition (SADDLE-S.ZIP) and a fall edition (SADDLE-F.ZIP) Glenwood Springs Hotel : Set near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. It's a 6600 yard course where pars are easy and birdies are likely. San Juan Island Golf Club: This is a sea shore course, set in the Pacific Northwest with a variety of shots that will test your golfing skills. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
