RAVEN'S RIDGE GOLF CLUB A Fictional Course Location: Western South Dakota, near the Black Hills area. First off, I would like to state that this is purely a fictional course, and if it bears even the slightest resemblance to any real course, it is an unintended accident of pure chance. The name comes from a subdivision outside Belleville, Illinois. My brothers and I went by one day, and I wrote the name down because it impressed me as an intrigueing name for a course. I picked the location simply because it appealed to me. I have been in the area several times and think it's a pretty location. Not quite on the prairie, and not quite in the mountains. It could be located anywhere in that same section of the U.S., between the Canadian and Mexican borders. All objects have been borrowed from other courses, and I would like to thank all artists and course designers who are capable of creating such fine objects. I do not draw worth a damn, and that is why I borrow other's objects. This course is laid out differently than most courses you will see any- where; real or fictional. The longer and harder par 4's and all the par 5's (there are six of them) are located at the beginning and end of the course. The easier par 4's and all the par 3's are lumped in the middle of the course between #'s 6 and 14. This was done to allow the player to gain strokes on the course at a time when your game would normally be peaking if this were an actual course. 2/3 of the holes have water of one sort or other. Whether or not the water becomes a hazard depends entirely upon your style of play. I played one round with Jack Nicklaus, and he liked the water 4 times (I only liked it 3 times).
