Course: Ridgewood Resort Golf Course Designer: Steven W. Fille Course Type: Original Design - JNSE Completed: November 7, 1992 Ridgewood Resort is a private members only exclusive club. Your membership offers you unlimited rounds of golf and any tee times you wish. I chose to locate the course about 40 miles northeast of Cincinnati, Ohio in lush woodlands. The holes were routed through a heavily wooded area, leaving the tall mature trees surrounding the holes as penalty for errant shots. The fairways are somewhat narrow with sand coming into play on every hole, and numerous lakes. Although Ridgewood is a resort club the course is set for tournament play with some difficult pin placements and heavy rough not far off the fairway. I tried to make course difficult, while at the same time keeping play realistic. The course plays fairly long from the championship tees covering over 7,000 yards and is set-up as follows: Hole Par Yards Hole Par Yards 1 4 437 10 4 426 2 4 405 11 4 408 3 5 573 12 5 554 4 3 194 13 3 178 5 4 429 14 4 410 6 4 418 15 4 397 7 3 157 16 4 434 8 4 362 17 3 170 9 5 549 18 5 560 Out 36 3,524 In 36 3,537 Total 72 7,061 This is my first JNSE design and I am still going through the learning curve of what can and should be done with the designer since upgrading from JNUG. I learn something new with each course I download from the games top designers. I worked on this course on and off for many months trying to come up with the proper look and feel for the course. The problem with taking so much time is that I found I was continuously going back and reworking the holes I had already completed, whether it was changing the width of the fairways and rough, the size of the green, the hills, object placement, and other numerous things. The reason being, I'd study courses that I had downloaded to see the common factors used in designs then I would try to incorporate them into my course. Another reason for the changes was my switching from JNUG. After my first playtest I had to go back and rework every green because of the severe breaks from my JNUG days. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS =============== I would like to give special thanks to the following people for the quality courses they have released, and showing the potentials to which this program can be used: MARK WILLETT, TED MAIDEN, LEE RITZE, SCOTT CHESNEY, & BOB POLIN. I know there are other great designers whose names I've omitted, this is only due to the fact that I haven't downloaded more than a handful of courses, and they've been from the designers listed.
