Helo Harpooners:


     Since we joined the network the list of WWIV BBS's which have decided to subscribe to our "Harpooner's Scenario Warehouse" sub/bullettin board has grown, and so far includes the ones on the list you will find below.  The Idea behind the network is to lessen some of the prohibitive phone charges connected with calling the Harpoon Scenario Warehouse.  95% of our members need to make a long distance phone call because they are spread out all over the country.  This discouraged the members from spending time reading the messages posted on our bullettin section to exchange info and ideas on the play of the Harpoon game.

   So to solve this problem we joined the WWIV BBS network; which is a network of WWIV BBS's spread out all over the country.  There are hundreds of them in most area codes and you will find one close to you somewhere.  This network connection allows you to send e-mail to other members and post messages on our exclusive sub/bullettin board; via a local call to a WWIV network BBS near you.  You can also have any e-mail fowarded to your  local connection by setting the e-mail options within your default settings accessed from the main menu "D" (this to be done to your member account here at the Harpoon BBS).

   The list below is a list of WWIV BBS's which have already subscribed to our BBS and if they are near you or in your area code you should call them and sign on as a member. Leave a message that you are a Harpoon Scenario Warehouse member and signing on to access the "Harpooner's Scenario Warehouse" sub/bullettin board.  Once you have become validated you are all set to enjoy the benifits of the network.  If you don't see a WWIV BBS in your area code or close enough to you on the list below don't despair.  The list is only of those already subscribing to the Harpoon BBS.  What you need to do is call here at the Harpoon BBS and check the list of netted BBS my hitting the "B" option from the main menu and then hitting the "N" key.  This will give you a list by area codes along with their phone numbers.  You can also download a file for your specific area code with a list of the WWIV BBS in the that area code.  The files can be found in the Harpoon general files section under BBSNxxx.txt  xxx= area code.    The easiest way is to go to the transfer section and hit "D" and type in the file name BBSNxxx.TXT with your appropiate area code.  If you don't find your area code here it is because I haven't compiled all the codes up yet( there are over 850 WWIV BBS's on the network ) then you should go the "B" option via the main menu.   Once you have the list you want pick and choose the one you want to use and call them and sign on as a member and let the SYSOP know you want to see the "Harpooner's Scenario Warehouse" sub on his board and he should get in touch with me via the net e-mail at 1@7851.  Then you should also send me a e-mail via the net telling me you have signed on.  Then I will also contact the SYSOP to arrange things for you.  Well Harpooners lets all get connected via the network and then we will become a very big organization.  The only problem now is you will still have to call the Harppon BBS here to upload and download scenarios.  However this will hopefully change in the future. First we all need to get on the network and use it before that happens.  Our network node number here is @7851  this is the discreet signiture for our BBS and is needed to send messages here.
