You are the owner of what we at RICHMARC INDUSTRIES believe is the most comprehensive lottery software package ever assembled. "LOTTO LOGIC" allows you to analyze the performance of lottery numbers in ways only limited by your imagination. The four analysis features included allow you to see and print out statistics on total number occurences, hit and miss histories of individual numbers, hit and miss histories of all numbers, and skip and hit charts for all numbers. These features combined with the TOTAL GAMES HISTORY included on the disc allow limitless combinations of pattern comparisons through the ability to analyze any number of games anywhere in the lottery's history! A sophisticated random number generating algorithm allows quick pick type number selection for any game using any range of numbers. Also included is a number wheeling utility which offers seven types of game wheels using picked numbers in 12 through 30 number combinations with play options of from six to three hundred fifty games. Whether you are a serious lottery player or just interested in trying to develop winning strategies "just for fun", "LOTTO LOGIC" will save you hours of work and provide you with the most powerful lottery analysis tools available. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS "LOTTO LOGIC" requires an IBM compatible computer with 384K memory. MSDOS 2.2 or higher is required. The program will run on a monochrome monitor although provision is made for color enhancement. A graphics card is required to display the title screen but is not needed for operation of any of the utilities. A printer is not required, but many of the features are best used if hardcopy is made. The skip and hit chart feature cannot be used without a printer. Any dot matrix or daisy wheel printer is usable, and a laser printer may be used if manual form feed is utilized. START UP PROCEDURES Your name is registered on shipping of your software with RICHMARC INDUSTRIES. Your registration entitles you to only one copy of any updates or revisions in the future. RUNNING THE PROGRAM FROM FLOPPY DISC All executable files on the floppy disc may be executed from the DOS prompt. Do not bypass the prompt when the system, during boot, asks you for the date, as the software uses the date to keep its files updated. At the A>: prompt type "LL" to run LOTTO LOGIC. INSTALLING THE PROGRAM ON A HARD DISC Place the program disc in drive A. Obtain an A> prompt. The installation program will assume that your hard drive is designated drive C. If you wish to install on a hard drive with another designation, you may edit the INSTALL.BAT file to replace the C: designations, or manually copy all *.EXE, *.REC, *.DAT, and *.SCN files to the desired drive. If you wish to install on drive C, at the A> prompt type "install". A new subdirectory named "lotto" will be created and the necessary files installed. Call the program from this subdirectory with the command "LL". If you are using "LOTTO LOGIC" on your hard disc and do not have a hardware clock installed, be sure that you have answered the DOS "date" prompt with the current date, or enter the current date after typing "date" at the DOS prompt since the program uses the internal date to update its files. USE OF THE F1 KEY At any point in the program the F1 key will return you to the main menu. You may use this feature to abort lengthy computations or recover from an erroneous menu choice. You should test this at the main menu. If the F1 key produces an nasty buzz (LOTTO LOGIC's indication of an unprocessable input), some other previously used program or memory resident program has appropriated a computer interrupt (a part of the computer that the program uses to terminate a process) that the F1 key is trying to use. You may fix this by rebooting or you may wish to continue without this feature operable. THE MAIN MENU 1. ADDING RECORDS At the main menu you are told how many games are on file, and when the last game was entered. Since it is likely that when you receive your LOTTO LOGIC software some games will have taken place since the last update at RICHMARC INDUSTRIES, the first thing you should do is "ADD RECORDS". Determine how many games have taken place since the date shown on the menu screen and the dates on which they took place. Look in the yellow pages under "lottery". Dealers which are listed under this heading expect to have customers ask about lottery records. Call the vendor and ask for the winning numbers on the dates that are missing. After you have obtained the numbers, press 1 at the main menu and you will arrive at the number input screen. You are to enter the six winning numbers for each drawing as shown on the screen, one after another with commas separating them before pressing . Do not put a comma after the LAST number. If you enter more or less than six numbers or you type a comma after the last number, the computer will tell you to REDO FROM START. No harm has been done, simply enter the numbers again. THERE IS NO OPPORTUNITY TO EDIT THESE NUMBERS so you should be careful typing them in. If you make a mistake before pressing simply backspace over the error and continue. Check your numbers again before pressing . The program will then ask you if you wish to enter more numbers--continue entering numbers until you have entered them for the last drawing held. Then press "n" and you will be returned to the main menu. You will note that now the number of games and the date they were entered will reflect your entries. You should add records every time the lottery numbers are drawn. Only in this way will the statistical analyses provided by the rest of the program be kept up to date. 2. STATISTICAL ANALYSES This selection contains some of the most powerful features of LOTTO LOGIC under the secondary menu: CHOOSE ANALYSIS TYPE 1. ANALYZE SPECIFIC GAMES This option will count the number of times each number in the lottery has been picked within a selected number of games. After selecting this option, you will be asked how many games you would like to analyze. You are limited to 17 because of the limitations of the screen. Enter the number of games to analyze and you will be asked if you wish a historical or recent set of games. If you wish to make a historical analysis, you will be asked how many games in the past to begin. The program will then retrieve and analyze the requested games and print the results on the screen. You will also be shown the actual winning sequences for that set of games. You may obtain a hardcopy of this screen by pressing shift and print screen simultaneously. 2. HIT-MISS RECORD OF SPECIFIC NUMBERS Selecting this option will allow you to see the hit-miss history of any number from the beginning of the lottery until present. You have an opportunity both before and after the analysis to send your number's history to the printer. The output of this function shows you how many times the number has missed between hits since the game began. A zero in the output string of numbers indicates that the number hit twice in a row. This analysis lets you see trends for any particular number. 3. HIT-MISS HISTORY OF ALL NUMBERS PRINTER MUST BE AVAILABLE AND CONNECTED. Using this function will print a list using all games on disc or selected group of games of how many times each number in the game has missed before it has hit. As the larger numbers are output you will notice a large number of misses before the first hit. This is because more numbers were added to the game after the game began. You are asked whether you wish the entire history or just the skip-and-hit chart. If you select entire history, you are asked again after it has printed whether you want a skip-and- hit chart. This chart shows the number of times each number in the lottery has skipped a specific number of games before hitting again. (for example, you can tell how many times the number 3 has skipped 4 games before hitting again). You would look at the top of the chart where the number of games skipped is indicated and under the number 4, going down to the 3 row you will see the number of times 3 has missed 4 games before it hit again. It is hard to explain this function, but it is clear when looking at an actual chart. Currently the chart ends at 22 misses and only indicates how many times each number has gone past 22, but future upgrades of the program will include another page to analyze only the number of misses above 22. NOTE: On a 286 machine, hit and miss records for 500 games takes a little over 10 minutes to process. If you are in a hurry, you might want to wait until you have something else to do before beginning an analysis of the entire disc. The computer will beep when it has finished the printout. 4. ANALYZE ALL GAMES ON DISC This feature is similar to #1 above (analyzing specific games) but it allows you to see the number of times specific numbers hit in any size sample of consecutive games. Actual winning sequences cannot be shown because of screen size, but if needed may be obtained through smaller samplings under #1. Again, an analysis of 500 games takes around 5 minutes on a 286 machine so for longer analyses you may wish to do something else while your computer thinks. (Remember that F1 can abort this process and return to the main menu). MAIN MENU OPTION 3 Returning now to the main menu, option 3 enters the "wheels" module of the program. Wheeling numbers by hand can take a great deal of time. The LOTTO LOGIC software can speed things up considerably by taking your picks, letting you edit them or scramble them and turning out the required numbers to play in each wheel system. When you select this option you are greeted by a screen that asks you which group of guarantees you are wish to choose. If you are not already familiar with wheels and their characteristics, you may wish to obtain our LOTTO LOGIC information pack which explains wheeling systems in detail. Each of the choices on this screen will take you to a brief description of each of the wheels in that group. There are thirty wheels available comparable to those available from custom wheeling services elsewhere at a cost of over $800.00. If you decide not to use a system at the moment, F1 or "r" returns to the main menu. Once you have made your selection of which system to use, you are asked if you wish to enter numbers or return to main menu ( you get plenty of chances to change your mind with LOTTO LOGIC). Press "E" to begin number entry. Depending on the system selected, you are asked to input your number picks as shown on the screen. Again as in the "ADD RECORDS" option, type each of your numbers with a comma between and no comma at the end before ing. A "redo" indicates that you have too few or too many numbers or there is a trailing comma. Because you have to enter quite a few numbers, an editing feature is provided so that you can change your mind or a number entered in error. The editing screen shows the number of your numbers (called system numbers in the information pack) on the top row and your picks in the second row. Type "a" to accept your numbers as they are now or "e" to edit. Typing "e" will bring a prompt asking which number you wish to change. Enter the number from the top row describing the erroneous number in the bottom row. Then the program asks for your replacement number. You must type "a" to accept the numbers and proceed. The program then calculates whether you are playing a balanced game or not. If you wish to balance your game, you will be returned to the edit screen for further editing. If you have some specific reason to play an unbalanced game you may continue with the numbers you have chosen. After your numbers are selected to your satisfaction, you have the option of scrambling them before running your wheel. Some scrambling of numbers is provided by the wheeling system itself, but generally, lower numbers will be grouped into games with lower numbers. and higher numbers with higher numbers without scrambling. The decision of whether to scramble is up to you based on your own understanding of the wheels and your own system developed through previous analysis. If you decide to scramble, the computer uses a three stage randomizing process to mix the picked numbers thoroughly. You are then shown the numbers as scrambled and asked whether to rescramble. This process can continue indefinitely until you decide to scramble no longer. The odds of producing two identical sequences of numbers using this method are so high as to be impractical to calculate. As soon as you have accepted the list of numbers scrambled or unscrambled, printing will begin. MAIN MENU OPTION 4 GENERATE QUICKPICK For those who would like to generate their own random quick picks or just study the behavior of random numbers in general, the quick pick section is provided. (Currently in development at RICHMARC INDUSTRIES is an upgrade that allows the user to simulate any number of drawings of any type of lottery type game and use the analysis tools in LOTTO LOGIC to study them. Among other options, this will allow the user to study the behavior of this type of game over a much longer period than an actual games history to see if long range patterns become apparent.) You can generate a quick pick for any type of game with any range of numbers. You are first asked what the highest number is in your game. Then you are asked how many numbers you wish to generate. (This could be used to select 20 numbers to use in the 20/100 wheel, for example.) You are then asked to supply a number to "seed" the random number generator. Since there are several steps in the randomizing process, actually this number should make very little difference, but if you feel you have a "lucky" number that might influence the picks, enter it here. The numbers picked are shown on the screen and you are asked if you want a hardcopy. 5. CHANGE FILES If you have purchased an additional state's lottery history from RICHMARC INDUSTRIES, or wish to track another state on your own, you will want to make use of this feature. Bear in mind that LOTTO LOGIC as you have received it is optimized for a six number game. If you wish to use these utilities with a five number game, as a registered owner of LOTTO LOGIC you are entitled to a substantial discount on the five number edition of LOTTO LOGIC. (see the product description included in this book.) After choosing this option from the menu, you will be asked to enter the two letter abbreviation for the state file you wish to change to. To avoid loss of files and confusion, the program will only accept proper abbreviations. If you are not sure of a state abbreviation, entering "zz" at this prompt will show you all fifty proper abbreviations. Pressing any key returns you to prompt to enter an abbreviation. If you enter an improper abbreviation, the program notifies you and returns you to the prompt. If your abbreviation is correct, but no file currently exists for this state, you are asked if you wish to create one. If you so desire, you are asked for a brief description of the file. This is the description that appears near the bottom of the main menu screen. It can be as simple as "Illinois Lottery" but should not exceed twenty letters to avoid conflicts on the screen. When you have changed or created a file this will be confirmed on the screen and after pressing any key you will be returned to the main menu. You will see at the bottom of the screen the new information reflecting the change of files. If you have just created a file, it will show zero games in the file, and you should proceed to ADD RECORDS to bring the new file up to date. Once you have changed or created a file, the new file will be the default file which will appear on the main menu every time you use LOTTO LOGIC until you again change it. You may change files as often as desired and all information in all files remains intact. 6. EXIT THE PROGRAM Choosing this option will return you to the DOS prompt. Care has been taken to make LOTTO LOGIC as error free and user friendly as possible. If some unforeseen circumstance should cause the program to crash, or you prematurely exit the program, typing "LL"' will return you to the beginning of the program. IN CONCLUSION We hope that you can use the LOTTO LOGIC to develop a system that will make you a winner! We do know that you will enjoy the ability to track, analyze, and develop strategies using these tools.
