THE KUBAN ESCALATOR One of Aleksandr I. Pokryshkin's innovations was the "Kuban Escalator". Pokryshkin was the commander of the elite 16th Guards Fighter Air Regiment, equipped with P-39s, and his emphasis on vertical dispersion led to a formation of vertically staggered pairs for support, usually 2,600 to 3,200. Pokryshkin ended the war as the second ranking ace for the Soviet Union, with 59 kills. MISSION Engage the German fighters and keep you own losses to a minimum. NOTES This is a snow scenario.
