COURSE : Birch Point LOCATION: Lake Superior TYPE : Fantasy In designing Birch Point, I had 2 goals in mind. First, to create a visually appealing lake/river course with a northern woods theme during the Autumn color season. Second, to make it a tournament course difficult to score very low on as this is the site of the Fantasy Computer Golf Association's (FCGA) Fall Classic Tournament. For the woods theme, I used an object of several Birch trees clustered together to be able to portray the look of stands of trees for a heavily wooded feel to the course. Also, there are evergreens and maple trees to add to the coloration. There is a lot of water on the course, with 2 rivers and the shore line of Lake Superior that come into play on many of the holes. To toughen up the course I used sharp dog legs that can reward a risk taker. At other times, strategy would more prudent than trying to go for the distance. To make putting a challenge, I used sloping and undulating greens. In closing, I wanted to create an environment convey the feeling of play a tournament in a great part of the country at a wonderful time of the year. John Kunyik 1060 N.
