NOTE:  This is the preliminary judging criteria and scoring rules
for the 1992 Developers Competition.  It is provided for your
evaluation to assure that we are not biased toward any particular
software development tool or language.  Please evaluate it
carefully and give us your feedback.  This is your opportunity.

_____ 40pts             Reporting.  5 pts for each of the following. 
                        (Before judging, the competitor should delete all
                        test data, load the sample data and run the reports. 
                        You will be judged for accuracy.)

                        every incorrect field type or length.  

_____ 7pts              Look-Up Table.  One point for each of the following:
                        ____    Callable from data entry screen.                                 
                        ____    Retrieves code and stuffs the keyboard.
                        ____    Search using directional keys.
                        ____    Search by Key field value.

                        database is changed, do the related records remain
                        'connected' to the "one" file?

                        the confidentiality of the data.  

_____ 5pts              User Interface.  Evaluate the ease of use.

_____ 5pts              Screen design.  Grade the screen design and layout.

_____ 2.5pts            Intuitiveness. Evaluate the intuitiveness of the
                        user interface.

_____ 2.5pts            Self Documented.  Can the user operate the program
                        without written documentation?

_____ 2.5pts            Help Features.  How are different levels of helps
                        implemented.  Are they helpful?

_____ 2.5pts            Use of Color.  Grade the choice of colors and/or the
                        ability to set your own colors. 

_____ Penalty           Penalty Points.  Deduct 1 point for each fatal
                        error.  (Unexpected return to the Operating System
                        or lock up)

Extra Credit: 2pts for each function directly related to the
application.  We will provide suggestions and guidelines. Media
will be provided for the MultiMedia examples.
