How to make 8 lines per inch, 3 across labels on HP Laserjet: (Avery Laser Labels # 5160) 1. From the TeleMagic Main Menu, select the appropriate filter for printing these labels, if any. 2. Touch R for Reports, G for Generator. Select Label, Create or Modify. Enter the name of your label, up to 8 characters, no extension. 3. Make the label screen with the following settings: Dimensions: Formatting: ----------------------------------------------- Width of label: 35 Left Margin: 5 Height of label: 8 Lines Between: 0 Number l. across: 3 Spaces Between: 11 Remarks: 8 lines/inch labels: precondition laser req'd Field Definitions: 1 PID 2 CON 3 COM 4 AD1 5 AD2 6 TRIM(CIT)+', '+STA+' '+ZIP 7 8 Touch F10 to save the screen. NOTE: Be sure to use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") in line 6. Otherwise, there will be an invalid expression error when you try to print the label. 4. Precondition the laser printer with the 6 setup codes. We highly recommend entering these codes in a function key if you will be printing this label with any regularity. From the Report Generator menu, touch: C to send Control Codes to the printer. Enter the following command: chr(27)+'(s16.66H'+chr(27)+'&a132M' (enter) (condensed print plus right margin of 132 columns) Touch C again to send more control codes, and enter: chr(27)+'&l8D'+chr(27)+'&l5E' (enter) (print 8 lines/inch with a top margin of 5 lines) Touch C a third time to send more control codes, and enter: chr(27)+'&l88P'+chr(27)+'&l80F' (enter) (set page length to 88 lines, text length to 80 lines) Touch J for Eject to clear the printer buffer and send the new codes to your printer. NOW YOU'RE READY TO PRINT! 5. Select Labels, Run. 6. Enter TMCUMAST as the database name, and the name of the label file you created. 7. Enter the name of the index to use. If you would like to make up a new index for this mailing, enter the new index name, up to 8 characters, no extension. 8. If you are using an existing TeleMagic index, it is best to say "N" for No on reindexing the file. Then skip to step 10. 9. If you are using a new index, answer "Y" for Yes to create the index. Enter the fields to index on in the space provided. For example, to index on the Zip Code for labels in Zip Code order, enter: ZIP (enter) Build the index. If you are in a network, you will need exclusive use of the database to build an index. 10. When you are ready to begin printing, answer Y for Yes to the ready question. 11. Print samples if you have a large database. Otherwise, answer N for No samples. 12. When your labels are finished and you return to the Generator menu, touch J for Eject to print out any partially filled pages of labels.
