Does upgrading to V12 overwrite my list boxes or function keys? I can't find them anymore, they've disappeared! "Have you done a Rebuild of All Files since the upgrade was done? NO --- "After you do an upgrade the first thing that needs to be done is a Rebuild of all your files. This will update TeleMagic where all your files are. Once you Rebuild you will be able to see your function keys. YES ---- "Let's check your Master controls, User Directories. I want to make sure TeleMagic is looking at the right directory so it can find your files. I'll bet we're just not looking in the right place for them. From the Main Menu, touch: `O' Other Options `M' Master Controls `U' User Directories "Now tell me what is the path listed for the "List Boxes Directory". [write down the path they give you] "Let's look and see if the files containing the function keys are in the correct place. Touch F3 to bring up the DOS Window and type in: `Dir [LIST BOXES DIRECTORY path]\tmlstbox.*'. Are the files there? NO -- That is what the problem is, the files are not where TeleMagic thinks they are. Now all we have to do is find out where the actually are. [Walk through the following steps with the customer:] 1. Do a directory listing on ALL of their TeleMagic directories. Look for ALL occurrences of the TmLSTBOX.* files. When the files are found write down the path and the size of the files. 2. The largest files are most likely the correct ones for them. Have them update their Master Controls\User Directories\List Box entry with the correct paths. (In V12, the Function Keys and List Boxes are in the TmLSTBOX.* files. TmHELP.* is just for the help files) 3. After the User Directories screen is updated, verify that their function keys are back. If not continue with `YES' below. 4. Have them run the install program again and do a rebuild after it is completed. YES --- "Are there any other occurrences of the TmLSTBOX.* files other than the ones in the path you have indicated in your User Directories\List Box entry?" [Do a Dir TmLSTBOX.* on any directory that might contain another copy of these files.] YES --- [If more are located, update the List Box entry in their User Directories and verify that their function keys are back. Have them run the Install Program again and then do a rebuild.] NO -- "Was this a Professional Version running without security before the upgrade? YES --- "Your function keys are still there, but not for the User ID you are logged in as. To recover your function keys: 1. From the Main Menu, Touch `O', `F' 2. When you are asked for a User ID, use the spacebar to blank out the field and touch . 3. Now, for each key you want to save: a. Highlight and touch b. At the beginning of the line touch ALT- B c. Go to the end of the line and touch ALT-B again. d.Touch ALT-B a third time and select `E' for Export and touch . e. When asked for a file name give it a descriptive name. For example, call the SHIFT-F1 key SHIFTF1. 4. After you have exported all the function keys that you want to keep, escape out of the function key screen for this user. Log back in with the User ID that you want to have the function keys. 5. Highlight each function key and touch to go into the edit mode. While in edit mode: a. Touch ALT-I to import b. Enter the name of the function key you want to import and touch . c. Touch F10 to save. 6. Do this for each Function Key. Note: After updating one user, you can use the Install program to add other users using the updated users as the source. This will bring all of the Master Control settings and function keys over.
