CheckBook DataBase - Version 1.2 A quick entry database program for checking accounts. Installation ------------ CheckBook DataBase is delivered in a self-extracting compressed file. This file should be copied to the disk and directory on which it is to be installed, and then executed. The following example creates sub- directory \CKDB on disk C:, copies the compressed file from floppy disk A: to C:\CKDB, extracts the CheckBook DataBase files, then deletes the compressed file from the CKDB directory: C> md ckdb C> cd ckdb C> copy a:chekbook.exe . C> chekbook C> del chekbook.exe Four files will be extracted: readme.txt This file. userman.txt The CheckBook DataBase User Manual. ckdb.exe The executable CheckBook DataBase program. reg_eval.frm The Registration and Evaluation form. User Manual ----------- The User Manual can be viewed using a text editor such as the DOS 5.0 EDIT program. For example: C> cd ckdb C> edit userman.txt or Use the PRINT command to print out the User Manual. For example: C> cd ckdb C> print userman.txt The manual is about 40 pages long (66 line pages). Executable Program ------------------ If you have only one checking account you can run the program as follows: C> cd ckdb C> ckdb If your have more than one checking account you can use a command line argument that specifies a file name to be used for database. For example if you have a checking account at First Federal and another at Investors Savings you could use the following command line arguments: C> ckdb firstfed and C> ckdb investor See Chapter 2 in the User Manual for a more thorough explanation of multiple checking accounts. However those distributing CheckBook DataBase may charge the end users a reasonable amount for the distribution service. If CheckBook DataBase is distributed electronically it is sufficient to distribute the self-extracting compressed file "chekbook.exe". If CheckBook DataBase is distributed on floppy disks, the disks should include the "chekbook.exe" file and the extracted "readme.txt" file.
