Pioneer Software Ships Q+E Database Editor 2.7 and Q+E Database Library 1.1

Raleigh, NC--June 15, 1992 - Pioneer Software announced today that it is
shipping new releases of their multi-database tools, Q+E Database Editor
(Q+E) version 2.7 and Q+E Database Library (QELIB) version 1.1. The new
releases add database drivers for Btrieve, INGRES, SQLBase, and XDB. In
addition, Pioneer Software has made significant enhancements to the dBASE,
Paradox, and OS/2 DBM database drivers.

Q+E Database Editor

Q+E is a Microsoft Windows 3.X and IBM OS/2 1.3/2.0 front-end tool for
querying, editing, and integrating data from relational databases. Q+E
provides a common user interface to several different database systems
that hides the complexity of database control languages from the user. In
addition to simplifying database access, Q+E allows users to integrate
information from those databases into any other Windows or OS/2
application via Dynamic Data Exchange or the Clipboard.

Q+E Database Library

QELIB is a collection of Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) that provide a
common call level interface for database access from any application or
tool capable of calling a DLL. QELIB can be called from the macro, script,
or programming languages of any Windows or OS/2 product. Products such as
spreadsheets, word processors, hypercard development systems, 4GL
development tools, object-oriented languages, and traditional programming
languages can all use QELIB to directly retrieve and manipulate database
information.

"We decided to make the underlying database access technology found in Q+E
available to Windows and OS/2 application and macro developers after
receiving requests for this capability from our customers and other
commercial developers," said Tyler Bennett, Vice President, Pioneer
Software. Many of the new development tools and languages are not able to
directly access data from the most popular PC, network, and mainframe
databases. Since Pioneer Software already had the technology required to
provide this access, it was natural for us to offer it as a product. Q+E
Database Library is that product."

New Functionality for dBASE, Paradox, and OS/2 DBM

Increased functionality has been added to the dBASE, Paradox, and OS/2
database drivers. For dBASE, record locking now allows several users to
access the same dBASE files simultaneously. The dBASE driver has also been
enhanced to support: aggregate functions, Group By and Having clauses, Row
IDs, Distinct operators, Union operators, and Pack statements. Password
Protection has been added to the Paradox driver, and OS/2 DBM is now
accessible from Windows.

Q+E and QELIB for Windows Support: DB2, INGRES, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase,
Netware SQL, OS/2 DBM, XDB, SQLBase, Paradox, Btrieve, dBASE, ASCII text
file and XLS files. Q+E and QELIB for OS/2 support: DB2, INGRES, Oracle,
SQL Server, Sybase, Netware SQL, OS/2 DBM, XDB, SQLBase, Btrieve, dBASE,
ASCII text file and XLS files.

Pricing and Availability

Q+E Database Editor has a suggested retail price of $299.00 for the single
user license and $999.00 for the five user license. Registered users of
previous versions of Pioneer Software's Q+E can upgrade to Q+E 2.7 for
$49.00. Users of the special version of Q+E that is bundled with Microsoft
Excel can upgrade to Pioneer Software's Q+E for $99.00.

Q+E Database Library has a suggested retail price of $399.00 for the
developer's kit. Corporate distribution licenses are available for an
additional $999.00. Registered users of previous versions of Pioneer
