SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - June 24, 1992 -- Holmes Microsystems, Inc.,
announced today the immediate availability of a combination 9600bps
FAX/2400bps Modem for the just-announced Compaq Contura 3/20 and Contura
3/25 notebook computers. The Holmes CQ96 FAX EM II/C is the newest
addition to the Holmes product line for portable computers.

The new Holmes FAX/Modem combination is designed specifically for internal
installation in the Compaq Contura, the 6.2-pound notebook from Compaq
Computer Corporation. Contura is one of the newest Compaq products
targeted to budget conscious consumers and includes a 386SL 20MHz or 25MHz
processor, monochrome screen, a variety of hard drive capacities, and a
competitive retail price.

The Holmes FAXEM for Contura features a 9600bps Group 3, Class II send and
receive-FAX. as well as a 2400bps V.42bis modem. The FAXEM product weighs
2.6-ounces, has received FCC certification, and is available now by
calling Holmes Microsystems. Suggested retail price is US$497.

The 9600bps FAX portion of the product meets Group 3 and Class II FAX
specifications. Group 3 is the standard for worldwide FAX communications,
while compliance with the emerging Class II standard of the Electronics
Industry Association allows Holmes users to utilize advanced features
found in a wide variety of third-party FAX software. The Holmes FAXEM
ships with Bit Software's BitFAX FAX software and Tradewind Software's
COMit for modem communications.

The V.42bis protocol in the CQ96 FAX'EM II/C allows modem users to receive
and transmit data at 2400bps with an effective throughput of up to
9,600bps. The Holmes product includes a 5-year warranty.
