July 1, 1992 -- Long Beach, CA - TransEra Corp. (Provo, UT) announces the release of the latest addition to their High Tech Basic product line: the HTBasic DOS 386/486 Numeric Compiler. Focusing on the subroutines which most often require the greatest amount of time to execute, the DOS 386/486 Numeric Compiler helps any HTBasic programmer produce faster running numeric intensive subprograms without requiring any additional programming skills. The Numeric Compiler produces code that runs in the fast 386/486 processor 32-bit protected mode. It also produces in-line math code to fully utilize the 387/486 math processor. The improved performance of Intel-based PC's, combined with the significant increase in execution speed obtained from the TransEra Numeric Compiler, allows much of your PC-based Rocky Mountain BASIC code to run at speeds comparable with even the fastest HP BASIC workstations. In addition, the Numeric Compiler can also generate EXE files which require only the HTBasic DOS 386/486 Runtime Version to execute. This allows program developers and users to share their programs without the added cost of the HTBasic development environment. High Tech Basic HTBasic is a PC-based engineering BASIC that provides a lower cost alternative to the traditional workstation environment. HTBasic, compatible with HP 9000 Series 200/300 HP BASIC, offers features such as easy to use HP-style IEEE-488.2 commands, data acquisition and RS-232 instrument control statements, COMPLEX arithmetic, complete HP-style screen, plotter, and printer graphics, SCPI compatibility, and HPGL plotter support. HTBasic also allows the user to transfer data between their current HP BASIC workstation and their favorite DOS software. Earlier HTBasic product additions include software drivers for data acquisition boards from National Instruments and Data Translation. In addition to the new data acquisition drivers and the Numeric Compiler, HTBasic also supports a variety of IEEE-488 GPIB cards, including TransEra's own GPIB-900 card. Price and Availability The TransEra HTBasic DOS 386/486 Numeric Compiler, including the complete DOS 386/486 Development and Runtime Versions, is now available for $1,325.00 in the U.S. For current HTBasic users, the Numeric Compiler is available as an upgrade from their current DOS 386/486 Version for $450.00 in the U.S. The Numeric Compiler requires Release 3.3 of the DOS 386/486 Version of HTBasic. HTBasic and the Numeric Compiler are available direct, or through qualified TransEra resellers and international distributors.
