LEXINGTON, Ky., July 23, 1992 . . . The IBM Portable Printer -- a very
small and lightweight battery powered printer offering laser-like print
quality for the business traveler -- was announced today by Lexmark
International Inc.

Lexmark also announced the IBM 4070 IJ personal printer, a space-saving
inkjet designed for home office and small business users who require high
resolution print quality.

Lexmark, a former division of IBM, develops and markets IBM personal
printers under license from IBM.

Both products offer a one year express service warranty as a standard
feature. Under the program, customers needing assistance call a toll
number to reach a Lexmark service specialist and, if necessary, Lexmark
will provide a replacement printer within two business days.

The IBM Portable Printer, available in raven black or pearl white, uses
thermal transfer print technology on plain paper and is designed for use
with IBM-compatible notebook personal computers. Ideal for business
travelers who prepare correspondence or presentations on the road, the IBM
Portable Printer weighs only two and one-half pounds yet offers high
resolution 360 x 360 dots-per-inch (dpi) print quality. The IBM Portable
Printer is small enough to fit into a briefcase along with the portable
PC.

The IBM 4070 IJ is an inkjet personal printer designed for use with
IBM-compatible desktop PCs in a home office or small business where high
resolution printing of text and graphics is a requirement. The 4070 is
available in two models, one with a sheet feeder standard. It features 360
x 360 dpi print quality, a small working space, quiet operating levels,
and battery pack and carrying case options for users who want
transportable desktop printing. 

Price and Availability

The IBM Portable Printer, priced at a suggested $549, and the IBM 4070 IJ,
priced at a suggested $599 for the Model 1 with 50-sheet feeder and $499
for the Model 2 without sheet feeder, and all their features and options,
are available now through Lexmark and IBM authorized resellers, and
Lexmark direct.
