ENGLEWOOD, CO -- July 7, 1992, Michael J. Timbers, President and CEO of IHS
Group Inc., today announced the acquisition of Federal Databases Inc., (FD
Inc.), a two-year-old company based in Washington, D.C.

The company provides a line of CD-ROM products for the food and drug and
health care industries. Products include FDA-On CD-ROM, Medical Devices-On
CDROM, and HCFA-On CD-ROM, which consolidate the laws, regulations,
manuals, handbooks, policies and procedures relevant to food and drug
processing, medical device manufacturing, and Medicare reimbursement.

"This acquisition complements our existing product lines. It not only
broadens our offerings to our current customers but also facilitates our
entry into new markets,"

Timbers noted. "Specifically, the acquisition of FD Inc. allows IHS to
offer a number of new products containing regulatory databases for markets
regulated by the Food and Drug Administration and the Health Care
Financing Administration."

The new company will become part of the IHS Publications and Regulatory
Products Group, headed by J. Edward McEntire, President, and will report
to IHS Regulatory Products, headed by Michael McCrory, Vice President.
"There is a tremendous amount of regulatory activity in these markets."
McCrory stated. "Proposed food labeling laws, pharmaceutical regulation,
increased scrutiny of medical devices, and decreases in Medicare
reimbursement levels are just some of the compliance issues that must be
addressed. We will be taking advantage of IHS's increased product
development and distribution capabilities to develop additional products
in these areas."
