ROSLYN, NEW YORK, June 24,. 1992 - - - Cheyenne Software, Inc. (AMEX:CYE) announced today it has begun shipping InocuLAN, an enterprise-wide anti-virus software solution, featuring Real-Time Trap. The Real-Time Trap inspects all files entering or exiting a NetWare 3.11 server for a virus. If an infected file is detected, InocuLAN provides for the file to be removed, relocated to a supervisor-controlled directory, or renamed, thereby preventing user access to the infected file. InocuLAN is the only anti-virus software product on the market today providing centralized virus protection and prevention for the NetWare file server as well as connected DOS workstations and non-networked PCs. The server-based module (VAP or NLM) scans the file servers while terminate and stay resident programs (TSRs) protect networked and stand-alone PCs from known and unknown viruses. File servers provide access to applications and store vital data for all users on the network. One infected file on a server can easily spread over the entire network. InocuLAN, operating in the background as an NLM or VAP, scans all files at user defined intervals for infection. In addition, InocuLAN has been designed to operate in concert with ARCserve, Cheyenne's server-based data management software solution. Working together, ARCserve and InocuLAN can stop a virus from being backed up and/or restored to the network. In making the announcement, ReiJane Huai, Vice President of Engineering for Cheyenne stated, "Protection against computer viruses cannot be a part-time effort. Today's networks consist of multiple tiers and each contains the same high level of susceptibility to a virus attack. Using an anti-virus product that protects only one component of a network is like locking the front door and leaving the windows open. Cheyenne's unique approach to combating viruses considers all potential virus vehicles and provides preventative measures as well as protection capabilities." In addressing the workstation element of a network, InocuLAN's scanner checks local hard disk, and floppy drives while TSRs search for known and unknown viral behavior. Access to the network can also be denied to workstations not protected by InocuLAN. Notification of a detected virus can be sent via pocket pager, MHS E-Mail or network broadcast. Removal of an infected file, or even curing the file, is often possible. Updates of software and virus signature files can be distributed automatically from the file server, eliminating the need for time consuming manual updates to each workstation. In addition, Cheyenne has stratified InocuLAN's pricing structure to provide comprehensive anti-virus protection and prevention for networks of all sizes. U.S. retail pricing is as follows: VAP (works with NetWare 2.1x or greater) $395.00 NLM (works with NetWare 3.11) NetWare 3.11-5,10 or 20 user versions $495.00 NetWare 3.11-5,10,20,50,100, or 250 user versions $995.00 InocuLAN/PC (supporting 5 workstations) $245.00 Cheyenne Software, Inc. is a leading developer of sophisticated LAN software products.
