Boxborough, Mass., July 6, 1992-- Further demonstrating its commitment to quality and service in desktop computers, NEC Technologies, Inc. has announced a one-year on-site limited warranty on all NEC PowerMate Image, Express, and C Series of desktop computers purchased after June 1, 1992. "NEC's free on-site limited warranty gives our customers the high level of service and value they have come to expect from our products," commented Basil Bennett, vice president of NEC Customer Service and Support. "By providing free one-year on-site service, we have added even greater value to our already impressive line of desktop computers." NEC's limited on-site warranty is valid in the United States and Canada and covers all internal NEC-manufactured components purchased at the same time as an NEC desktop. NEC MultiSync 4D, 5D, and FG Series of monitors purchased with an NEC base unit will also be covered under the warranty. To receive on-site repair service, customers must contact one of NEC's 200+ TotalService Preferred Dealers or an NEC authorized third-party maintenance company. The warranty is valid within 50 miles of any NECTECH TotalService Preferred Site. For customers far removed from a service site, there is a one-time upcharge of $59 for customers between 51- 75 miles away, and $69 for customers between 76 -100 miles from an NEC TotalService Center. To place a service call and find the location of the nearest TotalService Site, customers can call NEC's National Service Response Center at 1-800-388-8888. The Center's operating hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday (excluding local and national holidays).
