LAGUNA HILLS, CA, July 10, 1992 -- Network Software Associates, Inc. (NSA) today announced version 3 .1 of their NSA-GRAPH software package, an IBM 3192G vector graphics emulator for IBM compatible PCs running DOS. NSA-GRAPH runs in conjunction with NSA's 3270/ElitePlus terminal emulator, transforming the PC into a powerful 3270-based workstation for both text and graphical host applications in an IBM Systems Network Architecture (SNA) PC-to-host connectivity environment. "NSA-GRAPH 3.1 is tightly integrated with our SNA engine," said Russ Hertzberg, NSA's director of product marketing. "As an add-on option for our 3270/ElitePlus emulator, NSAGRAPH 3.1 can support up to two 3192G host graphics sessions." NSA-GRAPH 3.1 meets the needs of customers who use the host-based Graphical Data Display Manager (GDDM), an IBM program product providing graphical subroutines for mainframe applications. The PC user can retrieve and store host-based graphics screens in the Picture Interchange Format (PIF), which provides for local editing of the host graphics screens on the PC. The graphic images can also be printed locally on a variety of output devices, including laser printers, color printers and plotters. The enhanced graphics emulator supports both 25 by 80 mode screens (IBM 3278 model 2 emulation) as well as 33 by 80 mode screens (IBM 3278 model 3 emulation). NSA-GRAPH 3.1 runs on the PC together with NSA's 3270/ElitePlus terminal emulator. 3270/ElitePlus is a low-memory IBM 3278 DFT emulator supporting DSC and SCS printers, five concurrent SNA Logical Units (LUs), multiple APIs (EHLLAPI, EEHLLAPI, PS/API, plus HLLAPI concurrency), DOS hot-key, print-to-disk, keyboard remapping, and automatic video adapter detection. NSA-GRAPH 3.1 uses 370K memory for one session with graphics. Memory usage is only 114K when running with graphics enabled but unloaded. Running together, NSA-GRAPH 3.1 and 3270/ElitePlus can communicate with the host over a wide range of standalone and LAN connections, including coax/DFT, SDLC, AutoSync, async, X.25, NetBIOS, NetWare IPX/SPX, and IEEE 802.2. 3270/ElitePlus is priced at $395, or $1,295 for a LAN network license. The NSA-GRAPH version 3 .1 option is priced at $295 for individual PCs, or $ 1,195 for a LAN network license. Corporate-wide licenses are also available. Network Software Associates, founded in 1980, develops, markets and supports a wide range of PC software and hardware connectivity products for IBM networking environments.
