July 1992 -- Visionetics International Corporation (Visionetics) introduces VIGA Window, a realtime, true color image capture and display card designed for the IBM PC and compatible. This video-in-a-window controller is ideal for use in the creation of multimedia presentations, CDROM based animations, and corporate broadcasting system, etc. VIGA Window is fully Microsoft Windows 3.x compatible, and is an add-on card designed to allow a PC to have video capture and display capabilities. It captures images from analog sources such as video-cassette recorders, laser disc players, and camcorders in real-time, at one thirtieth of a second per frame. Users can manipulate, edit, store and retrieve the captured images. VIGA Window combines the VGA graphics display with the full color video-in-a-window, and output to a VGA or multisync monitor, at resolutions up to 1024 x 512 pixels. Users can use the color key approach to perform the overlay. The key feature of the VIGA Window board is its ability to accept three independent video sources, including NTSC, PAL, Composite or S-Video. Users can utilize the same board in countries with different broadcasting formats by selecting any of the three input jacks. This cost saving feature enables Visionetics to price its VIGA Window board very competitively. The ability to perform scalable and multiple live video windows makes VIGA Window a very unique board. The video-in-a-window display is fully scalable from full screen to an icon in the display's comer. You can also move the window to different positions on the screen. In addition, users can also open another window within the window to capture another live image. This creates a picture within a picture effect. You can open up to three live video windows at one time. Users can either use the software to control the capturing of three live video images, or, installing three VIGA Window cards in a system. Visionetics will ship VIGA Window in July 1992, at a list price of $695.00. Each VIGA Window board comes with a full one year warranty.
