MUSKEGON, MI--June 8, 1992--ASP (The Association of Shareware Professionals) welcomes its 1,000th member, Mr. Wayland Bruns of JORF Company. "I'm thrilled!" said Bruns. "I've always had a soft spot in my heart for shareware...and I look up to successful (ASP) shareware authors as role models of professionalism." Bruns' product, JORF 2.0, is an object-oriented interpreted computer language for creating small business applications for DOS and Windows environments. It is particularly well suited to data processing and accounting applications. Paul Mayer, past ASP President, said, "It's great to welcome Brun as our 1000th member." Brun has joined a select group of professionals marketing their products under the Shareware concept, giving users the opportunity to evaluate software in the comfort of their office or home, before they pay for it. "Shareware is a great concept. It's like test driving a new car. With Shareware, the purchaser only pays for the software if it fulfills their needs," said Mayer. Wayland is 31 years old and has been programming for over 10 years. JORF is his only shareware program at this time. He is employed full-time as a dBASE programmer, and manages his shareware business part-time. In his spare time, Wayland enjoys outdoor sports, particularly backpacking. He's climbed the 11,000-foot Mt. Hood in Oregon, east of Portland, and is looking forward to his next challenge, the 12,000-foot Three Sisters mountain. Association of Shareware Professionals, a nonprofit corporation formed in 1987, informs users about shareware programs and distribution methods; fosters professionalism among authors by setting standards for its members to follow; encourages distribution of shareware through a network of user groups, bulletin board systems, and disk vendors; and provides marketing, promotion, and distribution assistance to its members. +---------------------------------------------------------------+ | From the America Online - New Product Information Services | +===============================================================+ | This information was processed from data provided by the | | above mentioned company.
