KODAK'S CENTER FOR CREATIVE IMAGING OFFERS CLASSES IN NEW YORK CITY CAMDEN, Maine, July 24,--Eastman Kodak Company's Center for Creative Imaging in Camden, Maine is now offering introductory two day, hands-on digital imaging classes at the Apple Computer Market Center in midtown Manhattan. The $400 classes introduce New York area photographers, designers, videographers, and other creative professionals to new digital tools utilized in such areas as creative imaging, QuickTime movies, graphic design, illustration, animation, music and MIDI, desktop video, science and imaging, advertising and imaging, and archiving images. The Center for Creative Imaging (CCI), Camden, Maine, is an innovative art and learning center established by Eastman Kodak Company in May 1991, to provide photographers, designers, filmmakers, and other visual thinkers with access to the digital imaging technologies through courses taught by artists and industry experts. In the knowing hands of artists, these new technologies can empower expression from vision to art. Through its year-round curriculum, spanning the full range of arts and digital technology, the Center brings together imaginative visual thinkers to transform the raw technologies into a graceful, ethical medium for creative expression. In the New York classes, beginners are welcome; no prior computer experience is necessary. A tutorial is offered free-of-charge prior to each class. CCI will also host at New York's Apple Center a series of evening demonstrations and discussions on the impact of digital technology in the fields of photography, design, video, publishing, animation, music, and medicine. The 17th floor classroom at the Apple Market Center, 135 East 57th Street (at Lexington Avenue), is fully equipped with 10 high-performance Apple computers (Quadra 700s and Macintosh IIfx machines with 8 megabytes of RAM and 160 Mb of hard disk storage); a Kodak 35 mm rapid film scanner and near photographic quality Kodak XL7700 digital continuous tone printer; as well as video, animation, multimedia, and music hardware and software appropriate to the specific class.
