July 21, 1992 -- In maintaining their dedication to supporting all versions
of AutoCAD as timely as possible, Expert Graphics has announced that they
will be releasing two versions of RxAutoIcon for the Rasterex Graphics
Board for users who wish to use AutoCAD Release 12 from AutoDesk. Each
version will fully support the new capabilities of Release 12 according to
the ADI 4.2 specification.

Version 5.2 is the first release and will support ADI 4.2 with all the
capabilities of the Rasterex AutoIcon for Release 11. These include
real-time zooming and panning, Birds-eye View, Spyglass, Motif style
pop-up icon menus and background scaleable raster images for overlay
drawing and plotting.

Version 6.0 will add a number of extended functions to AutoIcon 5.2,
especially those designed as enhancements to Release 12 functionality.
These functions include the following:

* Hardware panning and zooming using hot bars on the side of the AutoCAD
screen. This enables a user to move into the side of the screen and "pull"
the drawing across the display.

* Full 32-bit support for enhanced rendering, fast shading and NO regen
performance.

* Paste-up icon menus, Birdseye View and Spyglass. Each function can be
left on the screen while the drawing is edited and then moved and re-sized
in a "MS Windows" like way. continued...

* Pop-up Text Window over the AutoCAD drawing area will be displayable.
This will pop-up when the F1 key is pressed and can be pasted up and
re-sized in a "MS-Windows" fashion.

As part of Rasterex's continued development of an overall Engineering
Document Management System (RxEDM), a variety of new functions will be
integrated into Release 12 to enhance the ability to search for and
manipulate raster images as part of the AutoCAD environment:

* Fast raster and vector database retrieval from inside AutoCAD. A quick
view of the drawing to be used can be seen as the user searches the
database. Once the raster file or new drawing is found, it can be loaded
directly as a new drawing or as a part of the existing drawing.

* Color and Gray scale image correction will be controllable using a full
color palette tool inside AutoCAD. This function is used for color or
grayscale image correction for aerial photos or satellite images.

* Very fast hybrid (raster/vector) plotting from AutoCAD of Hybrid RLC AND
Hybrid color TIFF files to a E-size electrostatic plotter will be
available using a new RCOPLOT command.

* Up to 25 raster files can be independently overlaid and scaled inside
AutoCAD.

Release dates for these new versions of AutoIcon are scheduled for Fall
'92. They will be available to existing Rasterex users for a $195 upgrade
cost.
