VISIONETICS INTRODUCES VIGA+ IMAGE CAPTURE BOARD FOR IBM PCs AND
COMPATIBLE

Visionetics International Corporation (Visionetics) introduces VIGA+, a
real-time, true color videographics frame grabber which is fully
register-compatible with Truevision's TARGA+. It is compatible with over
300 available software and hardware programs written for the TARGA boards.
VIGA+ recently won two awards at the 1992 COMPUTEX show held in Taipei,
Taiwan. The prestigious BYTE magazine selected VIGA+ for the "Best of the
Best" and the "Best of Multimedia category" awards.

VIGA+ occupies a single-slot, and is designed for the ISA and EISA systems.
The new VGA/XGA overlay and pass-through features allow users to overlay
VGA/XGA graphics or text onto the non-interlaced VIGA+ output. The
selection of VGA or VIGA+ mode is software controllable, therefore,
providing an excellent single monitor solution to different multimedia
applications. In addition, each VIGA+ comes complete with a driver for
Microsoft Windows support This allows users to perform scalable full
motion video windowing. The live video can be rotated 90 degrees or
flipped on its horizontal or vertical axis.

VIGA+ captures images in real time at a digitization rate of one-thirtieth
of a second per frame. The digital data can then be displayed in 8, 16,
24, or 32 bits/pixel modes, on analog RGB, composite video (NTSC or PAL),
and S-VHS monitors. It contains its own VRAM frame memory, and supports up
to 2MB of 256K x 4 enhanced page mode.

The highlight of the VIGA+ is its digital special effects processing. This
unique process allows users to do cross-fading and linear blending between
different images and video sources. It can also perform linear shrinking
of live video, captured frames, and VGA images. The mosaic effects is
commonly used for scrambling faces. Other digital special effects include
real-time logic operations (AND, OR, NOR, etc.) between live video and
frame buffer, solarization to reduce an image's color depth for special
visual effects; real-time multiple 90-degree rotation and mirror rotation
effects; selectable border colors via R, G, B color registers; etc.

Another key feature is the advanced chroma keying. This feature allows
users to overlay incoming live video against VGA graphics or text to
create an extraordinary presentation. This is commonly used in TV weather
reports, in which a selected background color is replaced by another
image. Now users do not have to go through the hassle of using a third
party software to perform the same function as in the VIGA-16 board. With
improved genlock circuitry, VIGA+ is able to synchronize a wide range of
video sources including unstable video signals from the VCRs, camcorders,
laser discs, etc.

Visionetics will ship VIGA+ in late August 1992. The price of the VIGA+
series starts from $1,395 for the VIGA+16, $1,495 for the VIGA+32 and
$1,895 for the VIGA+64. Each VIGA+ board comes with a full one year
