Bitstream Announces New PC Font Packs

September 22, 1992 -- Bitstream Inc. today announced that it is shipping
two new retail font packages with typefaces in PostScript Type 1 format
for the IBM PC. The Bitstream Font Packs 1 & 2 offer 40 and 20 typefaces
respectively in PostScript Type 1 format. The typeface selections will
match those in Bitstream's popular TrueType Font Packs for Microsoft
Windows 3.1.

Bitstream Font Pack 1 contains 40 PostScript Type 1 typeface outlines and
has a suggested retail price of $79. The pack offers users a versatile mix
of text families and decorative type designs. Text families include
Revival 565 (Bitstream's version of Berling), Imperial, Square Slabserif
711 (Bitstream's version of City) and Humanist 777 (Bitstream's version of
Futiger). Decorative designs include a variety of styles such as old
styles (Fraktur), scripts (Nuptial & English 157), traditional headline
designs and more friendly, informal typefaces. Two of the faces are
Bitstream exclusives: Bitstream Oz Handicraft and Huxley Vertical.

Font Pack 2 contains 20 PostScript Type 1 typefaces and has a suggested
retail price of $39. The pack includes text families--one serif and one
sans serif--and an assortment of decorative designs. The two text
families, Zapf Elliptical (Bitstream's version of Melior) and Geometric
415 (Bitstream's version of Metro) complement each other very well and
provide users with an excellent alternative to more commonly used text
faces. Also included are fun, decorative faces, such as Bitstream Cooper
Black, VAG Rounded and Embassy, which are perfect for headlines, informal
documents and special projects.

The typefaces in the two Font Packs are fully hinted PostScript Type 1 font
outlines that conform to published specifications to ensure optimal output
quality at low resolutions and optimal hardware and software
compatibility. The typefaces can be used with IBM PC-based applications,
printers and imagesetters that support the PostScript Page Description
Language; and with popular font scaling utilities that support PostScript
such as Bitstream FaceLift 2.0 for Windows and Adobe Type Manager (ATM).
