Help Maker: The Help Solution for Windows

Since 1983, DDTEC has been involved in the field of CBT and has developed a
number of authoring tools ( DUO, DUO Plus, LINE). In 1990 and 1991, DDTEC
has successfully developed and marketed a number of Windows products and
services (J'apprends Windows, PC VISION, Demo Versions). In 1992, DDTEC
launches Help Maker and thus asserts itself as a specialist in information
and training of users in the field of office automation. Help Maker allows
any Windows application user to easily generate personalized on-line
help.

Existing Windows "tools" for the development of help can only be used by
specialists in data processing. The development of help files by
developers remains a slow and therefore expensive process. Moreover, since
they are developed by software specialists, those help files are often too
general and do not fit the users' needs. With Help Maker, DDTEC supplies
an effective solution for the development of on-line help.

Thanks to Help Maker, contextual help can be developed by anyone. Each
object of a Windows application is identified by Help Maker and can have a
specific entry point in the help contents. Help Maker is compatible with
all the standard software of the market (word processors, spreadsheets,
local area networks...) as long as they run in Windows 3.

With Help Maker the creation of help is easy. First of all, the developer
displays an object (button, menu item...) of the application, points to it
with the mouse and clicks on the right button. Then the help text for this
object is typed in. The editor (text and graphics) contains all the
features that are required for the creation of hypermedia help (hypertext
links, execution of programs...). Moreover, the help which is created with
Help Maker, is completely compatible with WINHELP (the standard Windows
help engine).

Two versions of Help Maker will be available. The first one is intended for
those users of Windows software who wish to add their own help to the
software they use, for example in order to document some macros (on a
spreadsheet or on a word processor). The second version is a development
kit. Thanks to this marketing approach, developers are free to distribute
the help created with Help Maker on their application, without any
additional fees.

Help Maker will be available on the international market in an American and
a French version from September 1.
