IKON ANNOUNCES HIGH PERFORMANCE HARDCOPY SUPPORT FOR ISA/EISA August 28, 1992 -- Ikon Corp of Seattle, WA announces introduction of its Model 10111 Hardcopy++ for ISA/EISA applications. While this product maintains the ISA (PC/ATbus) form factor, and software compatibility with the earlier Models 10092 and 10097, the 10111 includes on-board FIFO and incorporates the enhanced DMA modes of the EISA bus such as DMA Mode B, tri-state capable DMA and interrupt logic (allowing channel/level sharing), and level mode interrupts. The 10111 can use either 8 or 16-bit DMA channels, and acommodate odd byte count transfers when using a 16-bit DMA channel. The board runs in DMA demand mode with eight transfers per bus request. Bus-to-FIFO transfer rates are 4M byte/second for EISA applications and 1.5M byte/second for ISA applications. FIFP-to-plotter transfer rate is 1.5M byte/second maximum. Byte swapping may be selected for word DMA transfers. The 10111 allows connection of any Versatec "Green Sheet" (VPI) compatible plotter or printer with either TTL or differential (Long-Lines) interface, as well as any Centronics-compatible device. Various special Centronics variations are also provided via socketed input terminators (with spare networks mounted on the board) to allow the matching of device manufacturers' preferred terminations. Special handshaking and timing options are on-board for use with some higher performance Centronics devices, such as Tektronix "data streaming" mode for their color copiers. PROM-resident test patterns, which can be custom tailored for various plotters/systems, can be accessed via a pair of board-mounted toggle switches and used to exercise the attached device without CPU or software intervention. A software driver for the 10111 for use with the Hewlett-Packard 700-Series workstations is available for the board at no charge. A Hardware/Softwrae Manual is also provided with each unit. The boards carry a full one-year warranty. Units are available from shelf stock. Single-piece pricing is $575, with OEM discounts available. Ikon will provide units on a no-charge basis for evaluation.
