Unlike most other statistical packages, SigmaStat's procedures are highly
automated and require very little statistical knowledge from the user.
SigmaStat's "Advise" command helps the user select the most appropriate
statistical procedure for their data and then automatically performs the
test. SigmaStat also checks that the users' data fit the assumptions
underlying the selected statistical methods, warns the user if they are
violated and automatically suggests and computes more appropriate
alternative tests.

SigmaStat is also unique in that it handles missing and unbalanced data
without making the user throw away any of their data. SigmaStat uses a
sophisticated general linear model, developed within the past few years to
handle "messy" data giving the user the ability to draw better conclusions
from their data.

SigmaStat calculates a full range of descriptive statistics including mean,
standard deviation, standard error of mean, range, maximum, minimum,
normality, median, percentiles, sum of squares, skewness, and kultosis.

number of different options for each of its tests. For example, the user
can specify different data formats, including raw data, blocks of data,
indexed data and sample size, mean and standard deviation or standard
error of the mean. The user can decide whether or not to test for
normality or equal variance and acceptable P-value levels for these tests.
The user can choose from a full range of regression diagnostic options,
specify a maximum order for polynomial regressions, and set the alpha for
power calculations.

SigmaStat's data import options include text, spreadsheet (Lotus 1-2-3,
Symphony's, Excel, and Quattro), database (dBase II-IV), and SigmaPlot
files. The data worksheet stores over 1 billion data points and allows the
user to transpose, insert, delete, sort, index and stack their data.
SigmaStat also includes an extensive range of mathematical transform
functions including trigonometric, numeric, range, and accumulation
functions. In addition, SigmaStat offers "Quick Transforms" (sq root, sq,
ln, log 10, reciprocal, exponent, arcsin) which allow the user to
transform columns of data in one fast step.

SigmaStat automatically creates detailed reports for all statistical
procedures invoked by the user. SigmaStat keeps a running log report for a
series of tests allowing the user to maintain historical files. Reports
can be edited within SigmaStat and output directly to a printer or to a
text file.

SigmaStat interacts directly with SigmaPlot 5.0 to create publication
quality graphs. A "hot key" within SigmaStat will take the user directly
to SigmaPlot where a bar chart, regression plot or box plot has been
automatically created from the user's results. The user can edit the graph
with SigmaPlot or send the graph directly to the printer.
