LabVIEW for Windows and Alliance Program to Expand Systems Integration
Markets 

Third-Party Developers Preparing for Fall 1992 Announcements

September 1, 1992 -- Austin, TX - National Instruments announced today that
members of its Alliance Program, a coalition of systems integrators, VARs,
and OEMs who have been customizing LabVIEW for Macintosh for a wide
variety of vertical markets, are already planning new Windows-based
LabVIEW add-on product introductions and services for Fall 1992. The
Alliance Program was first introduced in 1991 and has over 75 members who
have already announced more than 10 LabVIEW add-on products for the
Macintosh version.

Several of the Alliance members are LabVIEW for Windows beta testers who
are in the process of either porting existing products or developing new
ones for fall availability. "We're excited about LabVIEW for Windows and
the new opportunities it brings to a systems integration company like
Metric Systems," comments Jeff Parker, president of Metric Systems. "We
expect the availability of LabVIEW for Windows to have a significant
impact on our systems integration business. Specialized hardware designed
for PC-based engineering and industrial applications is widely available.
LabVIEW for Windows gives system integrators like us the world-class
software development tools we need to turn all that hardware into
solutions for our customers. In addition, LabVIEW for Windows is expected
to have a significant impact on the sales of LabVIEW-based products. We
expect the Windows version of SurfaceVIEW, our virtual instrument package
for creating 3D surface plots directly from LabVIEW, to be available in
conjunction with the release of LabVIEW for Windows."

The Software Engineering Group (SEG) is another Alliance member eager to
get a PC version of its LabVIEW add-on products out in the marketplace.
"We plan to release PC versions of both our HighwayVIEW and AnaVIEW VI
libraries for Allen-Bradley and Anafaze industrial controllers this fall,"
says Andrew Agoos, president of SEG. "Although the industrial market is
crowded with tools that claim to make things graphical and easy, the
reality is often disappointing. LabVIEW will stand out as a truly easy yet
powerful solution for both experimental manufacturing and turnkey control
systems, and SEG will be ready with the add-ons that industrial customers
need."

nuLogic, Inc. has been providing LabVIEW compatible motion control virtual
instrument libraries as an Alliance member since May 1990. "As a beta
tester of LabVIEW for Windows, we're very happy with the power,
performance, and compatibility of the LabVIEW PC solution," remarks Jeff
Seiden, president of nuLogic, Inc. "nuLogic's LabVIEW for Windows motion
control solutions are already up and running in our lab, and we expect to
announce product availability in conjunction with the availability of
LabVIEW for Windows this fall. The Windows based LabVIEW package will
allow us to provide the same easy to integrate and easy to use motion
control solutions that we have been providing for our Macintosh based
customers."
