MICRO EXPRESS INTRODUCES CYRIX-BASED LOW-COST 33-MHZ PC, UPGRADABLE TO 66
MHZ

Santa Ana, CA..A low-cost, high-performance PC, based on the Cyrix 486DLC
microprocessor is now available from Micro Express. This 33-MHz PC, called
the ME486DLC, is also upgradable to a 66-MHz 486DX2/66 configuration.

With 4-MB of RAM, 256K of external RAM cache, a 120-MB fast IDE hard disk
drive, Super VGA Color graphics card and monitor, both 3-1/2" and 5-1/4"
high-density floppy disk drives, a mouse, keyboard, DOS 5.0 and Windows
3.1, this computer sells for only $1499.

Upgrading from the 33-MHz to the 66-MHz requires simply removing the 486DLC
microprocessor from its ZIF (zero insertion force) socket, and replacing
it with the i486DX2/66 microprocessor. The cost of the 66-MHz version of
this PC is only $2349.

The 256K RAM cache is direct-mapped and write-back. The BIOS is from AMI,
and includes password protection and selectable shadowing of both the
system and video BIOS. RAM is upgradable on the motherboard to 32 MB. A
CMOS clock-calendar is included, as are built-in diagnostics. The
motherboard provides eight full 16-bit expansion slots. One parallel and
two serial ports are standard on this PC.

The ME 486DLC features the new Micro Express FM-360 14" Super VGA Color
Monitor. With its 0.28-mm dot pitch and 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, this
monitor provides a picture clarity rarely seen on PCs.

This PC is packaged in a compact desktop case, measuring 6.5" [H] x 14.5"
[W] x 16.5" [D]. The standard case allows for five drive bays, four
externally accessed and one internal. If desired, the ME 486DLC can be

375-W power supply. A standard 101-type enhanced keyboard with or without
