THE FIRST AFFORDABLE NATIONAL TELEPHONE DIRECTORY 

Marblehead, MA, August 24, 1992. ProCD. Inc. announced today that it is
shipping ProPhone - National Edition a collection of three CD-ROM's
containing most of the nation's residential and business telephone
directory listings. ProPhone currently contains listings from every city
in the United States. This announcement is significant considering
ProPhone' s list price of $349. For a limited time, ProPhone is available
from ProCD and its authorized distributors at the special introductory
price of only $179. 

ProPhone consists of a Business disc, the Eastern Residential disc, and the
Western Residential disc. The Business disc contains the names, addresses
and telephone numbers of substantially all of the nation's businesses. The
seven million listings may be searched by name, business heading or SIC
(Standard Industrial Classification) codes. The software has been designed
to allow users to limit searches by address or telephone number to
instantly retrieve the listings they are looking for. Sample searches will
allow users to:

- identify the address and telephone number of more than 
  7 million businesses; 
- identify suppliers or customers from over 2,000 business types;
- browse listings to check trademarked names or names in use;
- job hunt by selecting business types and limiting by any city
  in the United States. 

The residential listings, which were previously published in white page
telephone directories, are on two discs. The Eastern disc contains
listings covering states east of the Mississippi River including
Louisiana. The Western disc contains listings covering all of the states
west of the Mississippi and Illinois. Both discs may be searched by name
and searches may be limited by address, city, state, zip code or area
code. ProPhone allows users to identify listings nationwide regardless of
location (directory assistance and printed directories only provide
information on listings within certain specified cities). ProPhone will
empower users to:

- save money on printed directories and directory assistance
- find old friends and relatives regardless of where in the 
  U. S. they live;
- organize class reunions and fund raising activities;

ProPhone's software provides unlimited access to all of the listings.
Individual or small groups of listings may be output to a printer or disk.
The software also contains a sophisticated dialer that permits users to
automatically dial a highlighted listing.
