RASTEREX announces new version of RxEDM Engineering Document Management

September 4, 1992 -- Atlanta -- Expert Graphics, Inc. the sole US
distributor for RASTEREX graphics products announces Version 2.0 of their
Engineering Document Management System - RxEDM.

RxEDM is designed as a six module software solution that integrates fast
document retrieval ("A" size or FAX type, as well as engineering drawings)
through a database linked to a multiple format viewing and redlining tool.
RxEDM provides full raster and vector file editing, accessible as overlay
files in AutoCAD or they can be automatically converted. Users can add
links to CAD or scanned drawings, enabling associated documents to be
retrieved concurrently with any drawing. Furthermore, RxEDM is designed
for drawing access to be available to the entire company or the project
team, not just the drawing office.

"This new release of RxEDM adds most of the document management features
that have been requested by Version 1.0 users" notes Darrell Knight,
President of Expert Graphics Inc., exclusive North American distributor of
Rasterex products. "Version 2.0 adds significantly more drawing control
and powerful raster editing, making raster and vector integration even
easier. "

Capabilities of Version 2.0 include the ability to view two drawing
revisions at the same time, compare their differences, as well as the
change notes (comments) that caused the revision in the first place, to
check that the changes are correct. The two drawings can be either vector
(DWG, DGN, DXF, DXB, HPGL and HPGL2) or raster (RLC, TIF, Group 4) so
either CAD, scanned or hybrid drawings can be compared to each other. For
instance, scanned drawings undergoing overlay conversion in AutoCAD can be
viewed and compared externally to AutoCAD.

Rxlndex, the database and indexing module, now has a fully graphical screen
painter, to customize each index front end. A number of improvements have
been made, including: increased speed and ease of use in launching a new
application, linking documents to drawings, improved network control, and
transparent links to existing databases so that they can use the unique
Rxlndex drawing browse feature within a text based database.

The raster editing module - RxSpotlight, has been dramatically speeded up
so even the largest format scans can be rotated and de-skewed in seconds.
Editing raster files in AutoCAD using RxRASTER CAD, is also improved with
more formats and increased plotter support, as well as integrated raster
to vector conversion and raster smoothing.

RxEDM is a complete modular document management solution designed to run on
DOS or Windows and supports most popular raster and vector formats used
today.
