SEPTEMBER 21, 1992, MOBILE, AL -- XANTE Corporation announces an aggressive
price reduction for two of its high resolution laser printers-the
Accel-a-Writer 8000 and Accel-a-Writer 4000.

From an introductory price of $3,995, the Accel-a-Writer 8000 is being
reduced $700 to a new U.S. List price of $3,295. The Accel-a-Writer 4000
is being offered at a new U.S. List price of $2,495, a $300 reduction.

"Xante has decided to make an aggressive statement by implementing this
price reduction," said XANTE's Vice President of Marketing, Martin
Kennedy. "We are committed to continuing this trend by constantly offering
the most technologically advanced products at prices our customers can
afford."

The Accel-a-Writer 8000 and Accel-a-Writer 4000 are 8 page per minute and 4
page per minute 600 x 600 dpi laser printers, respectively. The
Accel-a-Writer 8000 is based on the Canon LBP-SX print engine, and the
Accel-a-Writer 4000 is based on the LBP-LX Canon engine. They both include
XANTE 's Advanced Gray Scale Technology for smooth and detailed gray scale
images. Along with high resolution, XANTE also increases the processing
speed with an AMD 29000 RISC processor, standard 8 MB of RAM, upgradable
to 16 MB, Advanced Memory Management and Dual Page Processing, which
allows the printer to print one page while another is being processed.
Also included is the ability to simultaneously print between Macintosh and
PC/compatibles with AppleTalk, serial and parallel ports. The
Accel-a-Writer 8000 and Accel-a-Writer 4000 are PostScript compatible and
include HP PCL IV emulation.

XANTE's proprietary Virtual Disk Technology allows the user to download up
to 30 fonts directly on the controller (in addition to the standard 35
resident fonts already present), without the use of an external hard
drive. These fonts act as completely printer resident and can be changed
to meet particular project requirements. Both printers ship with a
standard of 512 KB of VDT for storage of up to 15 fonts, and is upgradable
to 1 MB of VDT for storage of up to 30 fonts. For those who want to store
more than 30 fonts, a SCSI port is provided for an external hard drive.
