THE ECHOO PROGRAM - WRITTEN BY JOSHUA W. WERTHEIM 10/24/91 The ECHOO program is designed to provide additional levels of control over the placement of text in batch files. The program allows text centering, placing text in boxes, setting background and/or foreground colors, displaying either a single line of text or the contents of a file of up to 23 lines, automatic rebooting of the system, errorlevels based upon a yes/no response, and clearing the screen prior to displaying the text (including clearing the screen to a selected background color). The program also provides hardware-specific errorlevel setting, including setting errorlevels based upon the CPU, the presence of extended or expanded memory, the DOS version installed, the presence of a color monitor, mouse, game port or CD-ROM player, or the presence of a math co-processor. These errorlevel settings can be queried in the batch file and processing in the batch file can be based upon that errorlevel. Last, the program provides (1) System Information on the installed hardware and software; (2) an ASCII codes table; (3) a color table; and a help screen showing the options and parameters.
