These files may be substituted for the 8514sys.fon screen font in Windows 3.0. They are 120x120dpi resolution GDI raster fonts generated in SoftType and modified in Resource Workshop to work with the specialized format. Although they are larger and more legible, drawbacks may include the fact that some text will now be larger than the dialog box. To test a .FON file, make a backup of your 8514SYS.FON file in your \windows\system\ subdirectory and copy the font to that name. If you don't know which resolution (96 or 120) vga screen fonts you use, either will work, but look in your SYSTEM.INI file under FONTS.FON= . VGASYS.FON is the 96x96dpi resolution and 8514SYS.FON is the 120x120dpi resolution. A 120dpi font will look 30% larger on the standard vga display. These have been tested on both systems using 96 and 120 and work on both so far, but no guarantees are made. Bruce Marx c/o His Board, 805-652-1478
