ANSI Color Prompt v1.2 ----------------------------- Would you pay 10-$20 for a program such as this? Boy, if you will I have others without much redeeming value I'd like you to check out! What the heck, its comparable to others I've wasted my time downloading and the guy wanted as much or more for. Anyways... on with the program. Its main purpose is to make it easy to change your prompt. Why would I want to do that you ask??? Boredom with the same old prompt and/or color, to play tricks on co-workers etc. The first options lets you build a prompt, letting you choose between 4 prompt styles and 7 colors. The second option is the fun part with prompts from a contest run by Pc Computing and some of my own. Checking back I find the contest prompts were put together, modified so some would work right, then uploaded by Chuck Brewer of Milwaukee, WI. The 'Train' is attributed to Bill Wiley, Shenandoah, Virginia and 'Power User' is from Thomas R. Trimble of Elizabethtown, Pa. Who made the others is unknown to me at this time but I welcome the info if you have it. It works good and does what its supposed to but not knowing your setup I can't guarantee results. You must have ANSI.SYS (nansi.sys, Zansi.sys... ok) loaded or it will halt. In order for the prompts to work right ECHO OFF has to be in the AUTOEXEC.BAT, assuming it would be the first line thats the only line checked. If its not there it will be added. Also, assuming most users would at least have DOS 3.1 I used @ECHO OFF so if your using a version of DOS that doesn't support the '@' you only have to edit it out. "KIDS DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME" WARNING: Since a person found it necessary to post a warning on Exec-Pc about ACP v1.1 I've changed more than its appearance. It now makes a backup of your AUTOEXEC and names it AUTOEXEC.ACP. I hadn't thought it was needed since I assumed most people would realize that by answering 'Y' to making changes permanent it would need to alter their AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Even by doing this you must realize if you accept a change as permanent.... then make another (even in the same session)...., YOUR ORIGINAL AUTOEXEC.BAT WILL BE GONE! The warning also stated if you use ANSI keyboard re-definitions it would alter them. I doubt very much if even a small minority of people reading this do, but if you do, be aware of this.
