Almanac for Windows Version 1.03 12/30/90 Changes made to Almanac in version 1.03 are listed at the end of this document. Complete documentation for Almanac is included in the file ALMANAC.WRI. This file has been created for use within your Windows WRITE application. It will be copied into your Almanac 'master' directory during installation. If you are running Windows 3.0 and would like to 'quick' start Almanac: (1) place all of the release files onto a floppy disk in drive A: (2) select 'Run...' from the 'File' menu of Program Manager and (3) enter 'A:\ALMSETUP' in the edit box. Almanac MUST be installed using the provided installation utility, ALMSETUP.EXE. Critical directory information is initialized in both your Windows environment and Almanac's default auto-load module (ALMANAC.ALM) by ALMSETUP. Please refer to Chapter 2 of the ALMANAC.WRI file for more information on running ALMSETUP. The original release of this version of Almanac was created at Impact Software in a compressed file, ALM103.ZIP. The Almanac files must be extracted from this compressed format using a file decompress utility such as PKUNZIP. The release file was compressed using PKZIP version 1.10 and will produce authenticity verification messages if 'unzipped' with PKUNZIP version 1.10 (or higher), assuring you of an untampered, original release direct from Impact Software. Software distributors are authorized to duplicate and sell media containing this software, PROVIDED THAT ALL FILES CONTAINED IN THIS PACKAGE ARE INCLUDED WITHOUT ALTERATION and that the price of such sale is determined by and advertised as covering ONLY the cost of the software distribution. Thank you for your support! Best regards, Len Updates included in version 1.03 of Almanac: - Almanac is now compatible with third-party font scaling utilities such as Bitstream's FaceLift and Adobe Type Manager. Screen and/or printer fonts provided by these packages can be independently selected using the 'Fonts...' dialog in the 'Preferences' menu (screen) and from the 'Print...' dialog (printer) located in the 'File' menu. - The selections on the Config menu now un-check properly when new auto-load modules are opened. Moon Phases and Christian/Jewish holidays were remaining checked when they shouldn't have. - Corrected a bug that caused the Notepad text (video display) to wrap incorrectly and the caret (text cursor) to be the wrong height when different fonts were selected for the notepad text. - Removed '72' point font selection from scalable devices and replaced with a '16' point selection. This was done to allow a better selection of more common font sizes. - Fixed the painting of the main calendar graphics from improperly overlaying the status bar when the main window was sized small and the scroll bars were activated. - Alarm check box reflects the proper state when re-calling a schedule appointment. In 1.01 the check box improperly displayed the setting of the last appointment set. - Alarm check box has been enhanced to show (On/Off) text which can be used (via keyboard Alt-O) to directly access the check box independently of the alarm time. - The overlay event type for calculating the Nth 'day' of the month has been corrected for the 'last' day of the month (i.e., 'Last Monday') which was not computing properly. - Notes connected to schedule items can now be completely deleted. Version 1.01 would not re-save an empty notepad entry for scheduled items. - The 'Data Paths...' selection will now properly change the overlay path. Version 1.01 would not change the path if the current environment had no open overlays. - The input focus now correctly moves to the Scheduler when the mouse is clicked on the 'General Notes' header bar. - The Scheduler now properly scrolls 'floating' schedule text (Text on appointments which are partially hidden at the top of the scheduler display. The text is 'floated' down the entry so that it stays visible, if possible). - Corrected Almanac from hanging the system when attempting to initialize in the Jewish display mode. - When making the very first note or schedule entry for a month it was possible to lose this entry if an alarm was set with the alarm clock immediately after making the entry. This has been corrected. - Version 1.01 used the letter 'D' on the overlay edit dialog to access both 'Date' and 'Shade'. 'Shade' has been changed to 'Background' because there weren't any unique letters left!
