Introduction: Winvelope 2.0 is a Windows 3.0 compatible utility that allows the user to capture an address from any Windows document or screen and then print the address on an envelope using a Hewlett Packard compatible laser printer. Features: * Capture an address from any Windows application screen and print it on a business size envelope. * Manually input an address on-the-fly. * Access an address book setup for Windows Cardfile to select an address for printing. * Optionally print envelope with or without a return address. * Adjustable address positioning. * Supports HP compatible laser printers with both center and side feed manual paper trays. * Prints directly to the printer port without accessing the Windows Printer Setup or Print Manager programs for fast output. System Requirements: * Hardware capable of running Windows 3.0. * Windows 3.0 software installed in standard or 386 mode. * Windows NOTEPAD.EXE installed in the Windows subdirectory. (necessary only to read this file online) * Windows CARDFILE.EXE installed in the Windows subdirectory. * Hewlett Packard compatible laser printer. Installation: 1. Create a directory on your harddisk for the Winvelope files or use the Windows subdirectory and copy all files from the Winvelope floppy disk to your harddisk. 2. Install Winvelope in Windows Program Manager (or substitute) using the following command line: [d:][path] WV2EVAL.EXE where [d:] is the drive containing the Winvelope files. 3. You may want to launch Winvelope as an icon when you start Windows so that it is always available. To do this, modify the load= statement in the [Windows] section of the WIN.INI file to include WV2EVAL.EXE [Windows] load=[d:][path] WV2EVAL.EXE Operation: When you want to print an envelope, highlight the address on any Windows application screen with the mouse or keyboard and copy it to the Windows Clipboard. Double click the Winvelope icon to access the utility, (You may need to restore your application window if you have been running it maximized in order to access the Winvelope icon). Winvelope will require a minor setup the first time you use it in order to setup the printer and to enter your return address. If you need to adjust the address position, each selection in the Printer Setup routine moves the position 0.5 inches in the corresponding direction for the Address and 2 character spaces for the Return Address. If you have special positioning needs beyond the scope of this adjustment routine, Winvelope can be customized by the author at no additional cost. Call, write, or Compuserve EMail for details. Place a business size envelope in the MANUAL FEED TRAY of your laser printer and click the MERGE BUTTON to retrieve the address from CLIPBOARD. You may also enter an address by typing directly into the address box. Click the PRINT BUTTON when ready to print. You may want to access the address book feature, which launches Windows CARDFILE and a file named ADBOOK.CRD. This option allows you to search, retrieve and store new addresses in a permanent file. Again COPY the correct cardfile address to CLIPBOARD and EXIT or CLOSE CARDFILE. If you've added a new address, be sure to SAVE the file before you EXIT. If you already have a CARDFILE address database setup you can change its filename to ADBOOK.CRD and place it in the Winvelope subdirectory. If you are using some other Windows database or address book, contact the author about modifying Winvelope to use it instead.
