WHAT IS FAMILYWARE? Familyware is a family owned and operated copy and distribution service which provides quality educational and family oriented shareware and public domain software. We've gathered together all of the educational and family oriented software that we could find. We've tested and retested thousands of programs. Finally, we've placed the cream of the crop in this catalog. Whether your children are preschoolers or college students, you'll find a large selection of software for their educational needs. Our family oriented software collection consists of special interests for adults, hobbies, cookbooks and recipes, health programs and financial aids. Our programs have been created by individual authors, therefore, each program is unique in its own way. Some of our authors have created their programs for their own children and others for their own needs. Because of this, the programs we distribute have a personal touch that can not be duplicated by any of the programs on the commercial market. HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE? Our prices are as follows: 1 - 10 disks 3.00 per disk 11 or more 2.00 per disk Prices apply to both 5.25 and 3.5 diskettes ************************************************************************** We also offer an ECONOMY PACKAGE for our teachers, sysops and anyone else who is interested in purchasing programs in bulk. We think our customers who use the 3.5 disks will find the package especially reasonable. Thirty (30) 5.25 or 3.5 diskettes: $50.00 + Shipping & Handling Just pick out the disks you'd like. Use the back of the order form. ************************************************************************** Shipping and Handling - 1ST CLASS ($6.00) and 3RD CLASS ($4.00) COD - Add 5.00 Foreign Orders - Add 10.00. Canada is not considered a foreign country by Familyware. We DO accept Canadian and ALL foreign currency! We must charge Florida residents 6 1/2% sales tax. We accept cash, check, money order or COD delivery. At this time, we do not accept VISA/MASTERCARD. It's important to note that not all of our programs fit on one disk. There are a few that had to be placed on two or more disks due to their size. Please keep in mind that our charges are per disk, not per program. You can print out a copy of our order form from the main menu. BUT I DON'T HAVE A PRINTER That's okay, we thought about you too. If you don't have a printer, simply write down the disk numbers of the programs you want. Calculate how much they will cost judging by our prices outlined in the last section, add 4.00 or more to it depending on your type of order, give us your address and mail the order. Soon you will recieve your disks. We also include a copy of our order form along with our catalog, but just in case it becomes lost or you decide to re-order before you recieve another order form, you can still easily place an order without the actual order form. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY ORDER? Not long. We ship either the same day or the following morning we recieve your order. Normally, it should only take approximately 6-7 days or less judging by your geographical residence. If you'd like 1st class mailing, please add 2.00 to your order. I'M NEW AT THIS. HOW DO I USE THIS SOFTWARE? Our programs are compressed. We compress programs in order to offer you more than just one program on a disk if we possibly can. We recommend strongly that you either have a hard drive or another floppy drive to use any of the software we offer. You will have to copy the program(s) from the FAMILYWARE disk into a "test" directory on your hard drive or copy them to another floppy drive. After doing so, you may uncompress the program. Our programs are self-extracting, meaning all that is required of you is simply type the file name at the prompt. For example, EXAMPLE.EXE and press enter We've kept the beginning computer user in mind while choosing our programs, so you'll find most of them easy to use. Most of our programs are self explanatory, but we've included a HELPME.COM file on every disk just in case you need it. BUT THE PROGRAM JUST WON'T WORK! Sometimes a disk will refuse to work due to mailing. Take the disk by two of its corners and gently stretch it out. Try to use the disk again. If this doesn't work, send the disk back to us within 30 days of purchase and attach a note to it explaining what type of computer you have and what happened when you tried to run the program. If we determine that it really is a defective disk, we'll send you another disk with the same program on it, free of charge. We will also reimburse you for the postage on the returned disk. Keep in mind that not all programs will work on all systems, so it's very important that you read the hardware requirements that is placed above each program description to make sure that you have the proper equipment to run the program. WHAT DOES "ASP" MEAN? I SEE THIS AFTER SOME OF THE AUTHORS NAMES. ASP stands for "Association of Shareware Professionals". The "ASP" right after an author's name in our catalog means the author is a member of the ASP Association. Authors and shareware vendors who are ASP approved strive to bring you better software. The ASP sets certain standards for their authors and vendors that must be followed in order to remain in good standing with the ASP. I SEE, SO THIS MEANS ASP AUTHORS CREATE BETTER SOFTWARE? Absolutely not. Every program in our catalog has high quality standards or it wouldn't be in our catalog in the first place. You can rest assured that whether or not the author is a member of the ASP, their program is still one of the best on the shareware market today, if not the best on the software market, period. We do not know why some authors choose not to join the ASP. Their choice is their own personal preference. IS FAMILYWARE AN ASP APPROVED VENDOR? FAMILYWARE is an approved vendor and associate member of the Association of Shareware Professionals. ASP wants to make sure that the shareware principle works for you. If you are unable to resolve a shareware-related problem with an ASP member by contacting the member directly, ASP may be able to help. The ASP Ombudsman can help you resolve a dispute or problem with an ASP member, but does not provide technical support for its members. Please write to the ASP Ombudsman at 545 Grover Road, Muskegon, MI 49442 or send a CompuServe message via CompuServe Mail to ASP Ombudsman 70007,3536. IF I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS, DO YOU OFFER TECH SUPPORT? Unfortunately, no. We can not offer technical support for our programs. As we stated earlier, we've tried to offer only the easiest and most user friendly programs on the shareware market today, so there shouldn't be that much of a problem running the software, but if you still run into a problem, we suggest that you contact the author. In most cases, they are very eager to help. AREN'T VIRUSES A HIGH RISK WITH SHAREWARE AND PUBLIC DOMAIN PROGRAMS? Truthfully? No, they aren't if you only buy or download from reputable dealers and bulletin boards. It's like anything else in life - BE CAREFUL! Our computers cost a great deal of money. We are certainly not going to be careless enough to allow a virus to slip through our system and trash the whole thing. It has to come through us before it can get to you, therefore we go to great pains to make sure that all of our software comes from reputable channels and even then it's tested and retested until we are positive it's clean. Don't allow virus scares to spoil your fun. The chances of any of us catching a virus is so slim, it's hardly worth worrying about. In our opinion, shareware and public domain software is of higher quality and much more abundant than commercial software. Don't miss out on all of the quality software that is available to you through us or other vendors and bulletin boards because of a "maybe". Just be careful where you obtain your software, that's all. ANY LAST WORDS OF WISDOM? Have a good time and happy computing!
