//SEMSOG (tm) Bylaws: as defined 03/22/92


In an effort to provide a standard of excellence for the users and
operators of public electronic Bulletin Board Systems, the owner operators
of the BBSes mentioned elsewhere in these documents have come together and
state with one voice the following ...

A Bulletin Board System wishing to associate with the South East Michigan
System Operators Group (referred to as //SEMSOG (tm)), shall voluntarily
conform with these requirements and standards of operation:

1. //SEMSOG (tm) associates do not condone illegal activity...
    A) Associated systems do not participate in the online distribution of
       unlicensed software, Credit Card numbers, any methods of bypassing
       computer security systems, telephone access codes, or other forms of
       Computer "Piracy".

2. //SEMSOG (tm) associates do not condone public vulgarity, hence...
    A) Those that offer access to adult graphic files, other adult program
       material or messaging areas will provide a method of age validation
       requiring that users desiring access will certify their age as being
       18 years or older before granting this access.
    B) Minor, those under the age of 18, operator's of BBS are welcomed.
       This application must be sponsored by a //SEMSOG (tm) associate who
       takes full responsibility for that system operators conduct.

3. //SEMSOG (tm) promotes the secure exchange of information or ideas among
   associated systems and users, and shall...
    A) Consider that information forming their user database is private and
       shall not be distributed beyond the local system in any case.
    B) Provide an adequate means of validating new callers for authenticity
       of user information.
    C) Test new files for known virii prior to general access by users.

4. //SEMSOG (tm) association is a fellowship, and its systems will...
    A) Share among themselves knowledge of system operation procedures to
       facilitate member systems in fulfilling these Bylaws.
    B) Maintain and display an up-to-date list of //SEMSOG (tm) associates,
       in an effort to promote these fellow systems.
    C) Remain in contact with a support system, currently being :

    D) If possible, configure for and join with a networked message system.

5. //SEMSOG (tm) association is honor bound.

6. //SEMSOG (tm) associated systems are granted a limited license...
    A) To add and use the //SEMSOG (tm) name and logo to promote themselves
       for the length of their association.
    B) Associated systems found to be deviating significantly from these
       Bylaws will be subject to revocation of limited license of use by
       the owners of this organizational name.
    C) Should a system voluntarily withdraw from association, it is agreed
       that the name and logo shall not be used, placed, or referred to in
       a detrimental manner by either party.
