Very important for all SoundBlaster card users (only!): =============================================================================== -= FM-MUSIC driver =- A memory-resident FM-MUSIC driver MUST be loaded in order for this game to run. This provides routines to control music output. This driver is named SBFMDRV.COM, and is distributed with your SoundBlaster card. It is also distributed with this game, in case yours is missing. I recommend using the one which came with your sound card, if available. Simply type SBFMDRV, to install it, then run the game. To un-install, type SBFMDRV /U. A small batch file is included with this game also, SBSTART.BAT, which will install the music driver, run the game, then un-install the driver. -= Voice output driver (CT-VOICE.DRV) =- In order for digitized sounds to be produced, the game must load a voice driver called CT-VOICE.DRV. This file is distributed with your SoundBlaster card. It is also distributed with this game, in case yours is missing. It is very important to use the right CT-VOICE.DRV for your sound card. When the game starts, it searches for the environmental variable SOUND, which the SoundBlaster manual instructs you to set up. This variable contains the directory name where your SoundBlaster drivers are found. If this is set up correctly, then the game will find the driver, and execute properly. If the CT-VOICE.DRV cannot be found, the program will search the current directory. Three versions of this file are distributed with this archive, so that users with SoundBlaster v1.5, SoundBlaster v2.0, or SoundBlaster Pros can all play the game. If you have an earlier SoundBlaster (v1.5), then rename the file SB15.CTV to CT-VOICE.DRV with the command: REN SB15.CTV CT-VOICE.DRV If you have a newer SoundBlaster (v2.0), then rename the file SB20.CTV to CT-VOICE.DRV with the command: REN SB20.CTV CT-VOICE.DRV If you have a SoundBlaster Pro, then rename the file SBPRO.CTV to CT-VOICE.DRV with the command: REN SBPRO.CTV CT-VOICE.DRV The program should now execute properly. If you get an error message stating there's an error with the CT-VOICE.DRV, then you have probably chosen the wrong CT-VOICE.DRV. Erase the current CT-VOICE.DRV file, and then repeat the steps above using a different card type. Note: This program has not been tested with SoundBlaster clones, so I am not certain these techniques will work for those sound cards. If nothing seems to work, just choose Adlib sound card from TTSETUP.EXE. This will always work.
