Super Editor fell into my hands with no readme files so I thought I would compile what little info I had on hand. Just to make sure that you are cautious in using the editor and try to stay within the maximum limits supposedly built into the game. Not that it may really matter but it's best to play it safe. SUPER EDITOR: UWEDIT.EXE 49120 11-11-92 11:14a The editor works on the file PLAYER.DAT which can vary in size but is in the order of 400 to 600 bytes or so. This is the Main Screen when you first run the editor: ------------------------------------------------------ [ 1] Strength...... 30 [A] Character's Name.. Rosanna [ 2] Dexterity..... 30 +-Runebag-+ [ 3] Intelligence.. 30 [B] Current Vitality.. 33 | A B C D | [ 4] Attack........ 30 [C] Maximum Vitality.. 33 | E F G H | [ 5] Defense....... 30 [D] Current Mana...... 3 | I J K L | [ 6] Unarmed....... 30 [E] Maximum Mana...... 3 | M N O P | [ 7] Sword......... 30 [F] Fullness (food)... 173 | Q R S T | [ 8] Axe........... 30 [G] Experience Level.. 16 | U V W Y | [ 9] Mace.......... 30 [H] Encumberance...... 30.0 +---------+ [10] Missile....... 30 [J] Experience........ 28.4 [11] Mana.......... 30 [12] Lore.......... 30 [K] Heading........... 64613 [13] Casting....... 30 [L] Dungeon Level..... 1 [14] Traps......... 30 [M] E/W Position...... 14375 [15] Search........ 30 [N] N/S Position...... 1727 [16] Track......... 30 [O] U/D Position...... 512 [17] Sneak......... 30 [18] Repair........ 30 [S]ave Character [R]estore Character [19] Charm......... 30 [I]nventory [T]oggle Runes [20] Picklock...... 30 [Q]uit Editing [21] Acrobat....... 30 [22] Appraise...... 30 [23] Swimming...... 30 Your choice -> NOTE: The maximum score for any attribute is 30 (items [1] to [23]) The maximum level for Vitality for this character is 33 but this max value may vary with different characters...? (item [B]) 16 is the Maximum for [G] Experience Level As you can see I had already adjusted my skill levels to the max with a simpler editor I had on hand. I only had a few of the rhunestones but with Super Editor I was able to add all the other stones and when I entered back into the game thay were indeed there. When you select [I] for inventory this is the screen you get: Total Number of Items.. 32 Current Item........... 1 [D] Name of Current Item... [128] Sack [E] Condition.............. 40 [F] How many............... 2 [G] Belongingness.......... 0 [H] Toggle Of Flag [N]ext Item [P]revious Item [S]ave Character [R]estore Character [C]hange Menu [Num]ber of Item [Q]uit Editing Here I tried increasing the number of torches from one to five and it worked. But I had selected the torch that was already in hand and when I went back into the game I had to move four of the torches out of my hand into a sac before I could light the one torch remaining in my hand. It is here that I would suggest some caution because of UW's known tendency for inventory bugs with or without the fix. I would suggest you make a few changes and then jump into the game and check the status of the inventory and tidy it up if necessary. You could then resume with the game or with the editor to beef up your inventory. As you become more familiar with the behaviour of the editor this extra caution might no longer be necessary... Here is a composite of info from the manuals and the hint book. My knowledge of the game is a bit limited and the limits for... [E] Condition.............. 40 [G] Belongingness.......... 0 Which come form from the inventory part of the editor are beyond me. I can guess at Condition and I think it would only accept a maximum of 63. But I could find no reference to this in the game documentation or the hint book. Belongingness, well your guess is as good as mine if not better...! But some of this will help... Container Capacity ----------------------------------- Bowl .................. 5.0 stones Crate ................ 12.5 stones Pack ................. 25.0 stones Pouch ................. 2.0 stones Small Bag ............ 12.5 stones THE AUTOMAP: If you flip to the tenth or greater level, you can use the full page as a note-sheet, keeping notes about puzzles, conversations, etc. It's much like a notepad ... except that you can't lose it. NOTES ON DOORS: Shutting a door behind you does not always protect you if you are on the run. You can use a spike on a door to make it harder to open except for anyone but yourself. When you want to remove the spike, simply open the door. JUMPING: It's possible to jump during combat. You do so by pressing [J] or [Shift] [J] because the mouse does not allow you to jump while enagaged in combat. COMBAT TACTICS: Many creatures can't swim, and drown if pushed into the water. You can also push them off cliffs or into lava fields. If an enemy is heavier than you are, you might have to run and jump on him in order to force him back.
