PC Management's Comments on RBVUS - What It Means To You - ========================================================== The future of reimbursement for medical services will be based on (1) HCFA/Medicare billing guidelines and (2) The resource based relative value system (RBRVS) to determine fee allowances. The RBRVS was developed in order to determine a fee for each HCPCS code by assigning value units to the components of work, practice expense and malpractice expense for each physician service. The total RVU of a mid level office visit (1) was the basis from which the relative value units (RVUs) were determined. Using Federal Register Addendum B data, PCM has developed a program that will provide you with fee information by state; by locality within each state; by dollar amounts; by categories of work, practice expense, and malpractice expense; and by the percentage and dollar amounts per category. Our data bases include all Medicare Carrier GPCIs, the Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare allowances, historical fees, and transition indicators. We have enclosed an RVU HCPCS PRACTICE ANALYSIS example of the valuable information available to you for future medical billing. PC Management offers billing and reimbursement information and training. Our resources include the carrier and intermediary manuals of the Medicare and Medicaid Library, the Federal Register and the AMA Physician's Medicare Guide. Please call for additional information on the scope of our services and how they can serve your practice needs. [pec/PCM]
